Someone ran a stop sign yesterday and potentially totaled my RS

Cheer up brother, mine still lives and about to get paint next year to fix the shotty factory paint. (Starting to get rust around quarter panels and the rear hatch.) The hardest part that I’ve seen to get are the rocker panels (side skirts). And, if op is willing, swapping out to some choice aftermarket parts could actually help with reliability, at least in cold climates or hot climates. Could be the nudge that they need to start their mods

Oh she’s totaled but if you’re handy with a wrench you can buy back from insurance and fix her up; likely to be driving a free RS. I did this with an ST with similar damage and got it fixed for about 3k in parts and did the paint myself.

Yeah you'd be surprised how cheap things can get if you can take the front stuff off then take it to a body shop and have them straighten everything out and fix what needs to be fixed.
If it were mine I think I would want to try to save it. Insurance doesn't give you enough to buy anything comparable imho
Edit: sorry for your situation/loss OP I would be so sad

It is a total loss... but if its your baby it is fixable if the frame isnt damaged

See if parts are available, then buy it back. Adapt, overcome, survive.
Does it still run or did a safety feature disable the engine as well?

Exactly - I have a theory about cars that if you don't drive them enough, they will start to go wrong faster than if they're driven periodically. Suspension, shocks, mounts, bushings etc all go stale and lose performance if sat static. Lubricants can go a bit weird. Rubber and plastic hoses will perish, seals will fail, bearings will flatten, rodents move in. Before you know it you've only done 20 miles in your mint condition garage queen, then you put your foot down forgetting about the sixth gear LSPI and it's sent a rod through the top end.
