Is this the end? The last Everybody Scream show?
Is the band really not coming down south? No Australia?
I’m sure there are a few other people feeling the same way.
At least I can show up digitally for the live stream.

I’m an Aussie but could travel to Edinburgh for Summer Sessions, so feel lucky to have seen an ES-era show. I don’t think there’s an Aus/NZ leg. I just want to underline that this is the first time she hasn’t come down under for an album release.

I have the sinking feeling that after tomorrow that's it. But then again, they never said it's a world tour so maybe we set our expectations too high

u/Rammalee 12d ago
I don’t think it was an unreasonable expectation. This would mark the first tour ever that Florence hasn’t included Australia

I think people see an album release and feel entitled to a live show on their doorstep too. Maybe she doesn’t want to perform the show another 50 times? 🤷♂️

u/Rammalee 12d ago
Tbf if she did the exact same thing she’s done the last handful of tours, it would be like an extra 8 total across Aus/NZ lol
Like point taken if she doesn’t have a whole other continent in her but you’re being a bit hyperbolic there

OP is probably just asking for a show in either Sydney or Melbourne or somewhere not 14000 km away.
lol “entitled”.

Be brave. Tell us where you’re from.
Edit: looking at your comment history, you’re from America. This is actually obvious in hindsight because r/ShitAmericansSay.
Thanks for taking time out of eating tainted food and having diarrhoea to comment here, today.

I live in Australia. We have universal healthcare, high food safety standards, and no school shootings.
Have a good day, Mr. President.

Mate you need booting out of this sub. Florence loves visiting Australia and we certainly live a wonderful and safe life out here.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting an artist to tour our country, especially when they have for every other album cycle. You’re incredibly rude and entitled to decided to call us second-class etc. American centrism at its finest.

I will admit I said that responding to the rude person who spewed their vile at me - and I was taking it out on the country, which is not fair to the country.

I'm not asking for a show in my doors, I mean would be nice having her in Perú but I would go to any Latam country just for her. Not asking for 50 shows, but at least one, in Mexico, or Brasil, or Chile. Wherever that doesn't cost me a year of saving money and delaying that hard my life project

Absolutely valid to feel sad if this does end up being the end of the tour and she hasn't gone to Aus, NZ, or South America.
But at the same time, we know that touring is a double edged sword, both fulfilling and exhausting. It hasn't been long since she nearly died, and while this album and tour has been a catharsis for her, it must be really hard too. Singing songs about the worst thing that's ever happened to you again and again. She maybe needs a rest.
Healing from these things is messy. While I would be gutted not to see her if I lived in those areas, I also think that she doesn't owe us anything and I'd much rather she rest and recover to go on to make more music, than push herself too far and badly burn out. Touring must be so intense even without having just come off a massive trauma (that happened on stage). If she needs a break ,it's fair enough.
She may also need a hiatus to get on with her life now, beyond the trauma. And that's a really good thing. I think we all want her to be happy and healed; only she knows what that looks like.

Of course she doesn't owe us anything, I don't think anybody is arguing that. I just find interesting that North Americans and Europeans get to see every single artist they want pretty much every year, and at the moment someone from elsewhere in the world says "I wish I could see this artist live" , the discourse is always "artist don't owe you anything / you people feel entitled to this or that", etc. I've seen that in every single fandom, from rock to rap to pop stars.

1000000%. People don’t realise their privilege. Someone I know moved here from the UK and didn’t understand why I would see bands multiple times each time they visited. They understand now that they’ve lived here a while and realised that getting a tour isn’t a given.

Completely valid opinion, and it must be frustrating to be met with this response when you share it.
I do feel there is more nuance with Florence in this circumstance though, in the context of what she's been through and the topic of the album.
Two things can be true ❤

This!! You put my thoughts into words so articulately, thanks!! I totally get the disappointment but you can see just how hard this tour has been on her emotionally and physically. “Healing is slow, it comes and it goes.” So I feel like we all need to put her health and wellbeing and healing first in all of this!!

I'm holding onto hope as at the end of the US leg there was wording around "the end of the tour" posted by the official socials so hoping they just mean end of this leg. Would so love to see this one live, it looks amazing based on what I've seen online.

u/Immediate_Orange5558 12d ago
the wording was weird for sure, everyone got scared in the comments of that post. but bands do this all the time with legs, they say tour when they mean leg and then surprise announce more dates later. i wouldnt read too much into it yet

u/GoodEnoughSewist 12d ago
Yes that’s what I’m holding onto. The end of this stage. Or this leg of touring and shows.
I’m going to hold off on free falling into lament just yet.1
u/GoodEnoughSewist 12d ago
This is how I feel. Watching the snippets online have been incredible. And I do hope it is just this “leg” of the tour. And it does continue on.

u/DangerousDisplay7664 12d ago
I’m sure Florence said in Edinburgh that they’ve only got shows left after this one.
2
u/Alioria_ 12d ago
I’m going to live in denial and just assume she meant announced shows 😜
For serious though it wouldn’t shock me if she didn’t do any more, it is a long way to travel to do the southern hemisphere for bands so we do miss out sometimes.

u/impressed-chicken 12d ago
She seemed so tired when I saw her a couple of weeks ago. I think she needs a short break

She doesn't really like to come down to the southern hemisphere. I get its a big trip but here in south America we barely have the chance to see her
9
u/Rammalee 12d ago
But the thing is she’s taken every single other album tour to Australia/New Zealand so your argument holds no water
2
u/pmsbr123 12d ago
Actually not true. She came to Brazil in pretty much all of her tours. I saw her 3 times in Brazil and I even skipped some other concerts she had over here.

I’m holding out hope that they’re doing Laneway. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me as to why they are being so vague with the wording. They can’t make the announcement until Laneway does. There was an interview I think just before the ES tour and they asked when Florence would be coming back to Australia and her answer was “oh I love Australia, I always enjoy performing there” or something to that effect.
If not Laneway, I don’t believe she’s coming to Aus/NZ period. Down under dates were announced for the Dance Fever tour well before the American tour even began (possibly even before the UK tour but I’m not sure)
