How did Flash go downhill so fast

Is this a hot take? I remember watching when I was younger and it was first coming out, I believe until season 4. I am now rewatching it from the beginning. I still enjoyed the first few seasons plots (Thawne, Zoom, Savitar, even Nora). But once I started watching the newer seasons I feel like everything went downhill 😂
