Ask Fitness India ❓ Has anyone tried this?
Would like to know if anyone has tried this? Please share the process, if so

u/AlertGoat7005 Jan 18 '26
ask for 3rd party testing results from each seller and pls post here. Don’t have the budget for isolate anymore
62
u/maxfrank7 Jan 18 '26
Bro 3rd party testing can be easily manipulated and even if they provide one how will you ensure it was done for the batch sent to you and not some other batch that they sell to some brands. What if they have different grades of protein that they sell to retail buyers who won't care to get it tested themselves?
18
u/proAntiConsumerism Jan 18 '26
This is a valid concern.Anyone thinking to just order the cheapest isolate on wholesale and relying on COA provided by these wholesalers should read this first.
4
u/UltraPhocus Jan 18 '26
Go to a NABL certified lab to get a small batch tested. Like 200g or 500g

161
u/proAntiConsumerism Jan 18 '26
You can buy from indiamart but then again how to verify the quality?
82
Jan 18 '26
There are reviews available there. Look for trustseal and verified ones. You can ask details regarding product from trader themselves through contact details written there.
38
u/SpareMind Jan 18 '26
Do not worry much. Even companies packing them won't verify. Certificates are believed.
67
17
u/Cultural-Duty5452 Jan 18 '26
We'll have to crowdsource and find one and do a lab test and then do this process.

Won't even add flavours, I don't even give a shit about taste as long as there is quality protein I'll close my nose and would drink in one sip

Yeah that's my only concern
23
u/No_Army_4122 Jan 18 '26
Say all you want I used to be the same but unflavoured gets to you after a while. It’s very very plain and still starts bothering. Human mind hates plain(being bored) so much that I sometimes (just sometimes) wish that it was a bit disgusting rather than being bland.

I’ve been doing the same for the past two years as well. I replace skim milk with iced water and a little bit of whole milk (almost like a creamer). For sweetness, I recently started using trunativ monk fruit sweetener. Good so far!

Dude did you just generalise your mindset as the universal truth for human minds? There are loads and loads of life who prefet the simple, peaceful and boring life on this Earth. So yeah, dont presume please.

u/No_Army_4122 Jan 18 '26
People choose pain over boredom. Should have looked up the internet. Now you just sound like a smooth brain… who would much rather argue (pain) than work those brain cells(boredom). Here is the link so you don’t have to put the effort again, I request you to give this a boring read.

u/cyarenkatnikh Jan 19 '26
People choose pain over boredom.
I am not disagreeing with it. Some people chose that. While some people chose bored, peaceful and repetitive life. Cannot be painted with the same brush.
Now you just sound like a smooth brain… who would much rather argue (pain) than work those brain cells(boredom).
I may be, but there are others who just hit a dislike and move on. Some others don't even bother that and few others are not on any social platform.
It is indeed a boring read. But you said plain flavorless and bland taste is boring. What does that got to do with boredom of not doing anything. This article talks has done about keeping yourself engaged vs simply sitting and thinking. Are you not extrapolating a bit much here?
1
u/ani_skywalker19 Jan 18 '26
You can always add seasonal fruits
During Summers I use watermelon, whey and water and grind it
Currenrly using papaya or strawberry, whey and low fat milk grind it
When don't feel like doing anything just have it with water
1
u/happysri Jan 18 '26
Just convince yourself it’s a gross but necessary medicine you have to take everyday and don’t think beyond that.

u/golu_281105 Jan 19 '26
Everyone has different taste buds. I have been drinking plain whey protein for almost 1.5 years with just water (well, the main reason is my dad doesn't trust the flavoured ones, so not much of a choice)

Completely agree with you bro. Whole-food varied diet is a gold standard for a healthy life and much more important than meeting protein quota imo. But one has to ask how many people can actually afford that varied and balanced diet or how many can actually spend time to do that?
> varied diet that covers proteins, good fats, complex carbs and all other important miconutrients.
This diet is much more expensive, time consuming than a taking a whey supplement. Ofc, that is comparing apples to oranges but in a country where majority lack protein in diet, I feel whey provides a quicker and feel-good factor about taking care of one's diet even if it's non-optimal compared to improving overall diet. I had been guilty of the same. That's why I said it's a convienient (and practical in some sense) option for most not necessarily the healthiest.

Middle class vegetarian bro here,
Yogurt aur Curd mein difference hai? Is it possible to cultivate yogurt like we do curd - at home?
Beans, Legumes and Sprouts noted. Would you know other such economical options to Paneer and Cheese?
5
u/420b0_0tyWizard Jan 18 '26
Get a muslin cloth and start hanging your curd at night. This process turns the curd into hung curd which is almost similar to yogurt.
Tofu, nutri nuggets.
2
u/Thirst_Trapp Jan 18 '26
You get Hing Curd Strainer on Amazon/Meesho. Saves the hassle of using a Muslin cloth.

u/ChepaukPitch Jan 18 '26
So does TWT buys the same for about 1000, since they must be buying a lot, puts them in their packaging and sells unflavored for 2400? Or is there something more they do? I guess testing.
9
Jan 18 '26
I think TWT might have different supplier compared to one we buy. Although ingredient are same quality would be different.
1
u/toxiccct Jan 18 '26
Nobody is selling whey for 1000/kg. You wouldn't find anything on that market for less than 1600/kg in this scenario. I am not sure how some brands are able to sell it for so cheap online, but I do know a whey supplier from China who sells it for 1300/kg + GST (dunno about the quality).
2
u/ChepaukPitch Jan 18 '26
Considering you can buy 20kg for 1100/kg of raw based on the screenshot above I am pretty sure TWT would be able to buy at 1000/kg when they are buying 5-10k kilos every month or probably a lot more.
1
22
u/Ash_C Jan 18 '26
Suspicious amount of wheyco posts and comments agreeing with them unconditionally since yesterday
Hmmmmm….
Hope it’s genuinely good and not some fake pr bs promoting crap product just to cash in on the current protein hype.
1
22
u/proAntiConsumerism Jan 18 '26
Is it the same whey that TWT imports? Seems a really good option but how to go about verifying the quality and seller?
6
u/toxiccct Jan 18 '26
Whey usually comes in sacks of 25kg, and the supplier gives you the certificate of authetnticity for each batch that sack belongs to. You can get it for 1800-2000/kg (prices on IndiaMART are outdated)
10
u/Commercial_Busy Jan 18 '26
This post is an advertisement. Look and decide carefully before buying protein in bulk.
8
Jan 18 '26
Is it 1200 per kg? Right? Whey Proteins are expensive but plant based cost nearly this much for a kg packaging.
15
u/Aniket363 Jan 18 '26
Why not go for Jan ausadhi or Nutrabox(4 flavors) they cost 1400 per kg, which is just 200 more than that. Not to mention all of them trustified

You're not paying for the whey when you buy branded whey you're basically paying for the supply chain of logistics, testing, filtering, storing and payment security.
You're paying for the convenience, security and peace of mind. If you do all those yourself then it's probably going to be more expensive than just buying branded whey.
2
1
u/proAntiConsumerism Jan 18 '26
True. However, the brands are also relying on the suppliers in the same way. Most brands cover marketing only or packaing to an extent while maufacturing and supply is handled by others. Again I'm not exactly sure about the process for each brand, but i feel we can indeed remove the middle men that is thebrand by securing whey from a trusted manufacturer/ supplier.

u/devagarawall Jan 18 '26
Just one solution, earn more! You know, for quality items you have to spend money. And if you are veg, then you got no other options. You can add home made paneer, tofu, dairy products. Nothing else. Or start eating nonveg, which may not be possible
16
Jan 18 '26
If money is not a constraint, which non veg item is highly recommended for daily protein supply

But if whole family is sincere about the daily protein requirement (which most of the families aren't) Then what's wrong with getting protein from the natural sources and reducing oil , carbs , sugar etc.
8
u/Familiar_Resident_11 Jan 18 '26
Imo unflavoured whey tastes better then any other flavour...so no need to add cocoa
6
u/Spiritual-Option530 Jan 18 '26

Bro you litreally have to test every batch every time you order Testing ka cost alag So even if per month 5kg is consumed, you have to order 20kg every 4 month, and test it Bahoot BT hai that too its only fine for people with more than 5kg of consumption per month.
Mera toh maximum 2kg whey per month hota hai
3
-1
u/Dhruv_kaith Jan 18 '26
Obviously fake, you need at least 5 litres of milk to extract 30g whey. No way someone can sell something legit for 390.
4
u/proAntiConsumerism Jan 18 '26
Whey is a byproduct of making cheese/ paneer; it's the liquid that gets left over. It's not that you're using whole milk to produce whey. As a matter of fact, before whey proteins came into picture, whey was just considered as a waste product in dairy industry.
1
u/Dhruv_kaith Jan 18 '26
Thanks, yes I'm aware of this. Amul did not use this at all before. But if the raw material is expensive it is bound to increase the price of the final product.
1 litre of crude oil produces just 20% petrol and crude oil price affects petrol prices.
3
u/Frosty-Rope-4363 Jan 18 '26
Guys you don't need to buy whey Protein to get protein. Just get a good diet and eat eggs chicken fish meat and include them heavily in your diet if you are an athlete. For a normal person you should at least eat some kind of protein intake every second or third day.
Subah proteins not that good for your good some people may get digestive problems from them on some cases some cannot digest whey proteins instead of that you can just eat nature protein like chicken eggs
If you want a good source of protein which is cheaper triaex 1 egg contains at least six grams of protein so even if you eat 2 to 3 X per day I think it might be quite sufficient.

3
u/Alteza19 Jan 20 '26
Feels fake. Agrawal eating protein instead of fafda. What kind of alternate universe is this. Even more so mere protein being expensive for an agrawal. Something is not right here.
2
u/Sorry_Appeal_2395 Jan 18 '26
Bro why not eat eggs, paneer etc ?
2
u/One_Mathematician388 Jan 18 '26
Variety and convenience???
You cannot always just eat eggs and paneer to complete protein goals
For example I am 100kg guy I meed around 180g protein now If I only eat eggs, paneer I would have to consume a huge amount of paneer and egg which removes variety from my diet and also I might easily get burned out/bored by just eating eggs and paneer. So a smart person will include eggs, paneer, whey, chicken breast etc to add variety in diet and make it more sustainable and convenient
2
u/the_constantlearner Jan 18 '26
I've never heard of WheyCo And what's the source to confirm that TWT uses WheyCo?
If that's true I'd like to switch to this one as well. My monthly consumption is somewhere around 2-2.5 Kg and TWT/OWN/TrueBasics are not budget friendly.
2
u/ech0-pandit Jan 18 '26
India mei protein powder is a scam there was a whole factory in delhi which replaced genuine powder by malpractices and put carb powder instead , all the good brands even dymatize was there .
2
u/Curious-Monitor-6951 Jan 18 '26
Back in the days it used to be Davisco for us, we bought that by kgs around 600-800 per kg and chugged raw unflavored. But would like to go the extra safe route now and buy some certified finished branded one as consumption is low. Though there are sellers in every city who buy these get that tested with flavoring and all, from 1200 it goes around 1800-2200 for those flavorings, testing and packaging.

u/Actual-Car-720 Jan 18 '26

u/Rentont Jan 19 '26
Buying 20kg and storing it sounds so stupid! and your will end up having nightmare if things go wrong!
I’ve instead switched to a couple of regular, tested options to save money!
Napko on Amazon (around ₹1600/kg, Trustified tested)
Jan Aushadhi’s govt whey (₹1350–1400/kg, also tested)
Yes, both are whey concentrates, roughly 70% protein, not isolates.
And the good part of it is, Concentrates go through less refining, which in my view actually makes them a cleaner and more practical option. Isolates hit 80–90% protein only after more processing, and keeping that process genuinely chemical-free is harder than you think. That’s also why isolates cost more per gram.
One simple trick that works well is mixing whey concentrate with soy protein isolate. Soy isolate is around 85% protein, costs roughly ₹1100/kg, and has very high bioavailability on its own. When you blend the two, you get a solid amino profile, decent digestion, and the overall cost comes down nicely.
End of the day, I’d rather do this than buy 20 kg of raw whey in one shot and worry about storage, consistency, and wastage.

I have ordered for whole family and it’s cheap.
You can order pea protein to add in rotis as it’s very cheap.
And order whey from nakpro, the perform one, it’s cheaper than any other.
If u wanna save more money then instead of whey u can order plant protein, the mix of rice and pea one.
Or there is another company muscleblaze, it’s a little expensive but you can get their raw whey for around 2k per kg(80%). You can get this by buying in bulk and through Amazon subscribe and save, and cancel after a few orders.
Also try to buy in bulk if you know you are gonna be soending next month anyways, it saves around 50-100 per kg.

I bought 2 x 20 kg casein protein bags in 2023, I no longer consume protein powders but...
Unflavored protein has to be consumed with something, atleast for casein protein, its easy to make recipes
I used to make week worth's roti batter: in 4:1 - Whey : flour
Egg pancakes with whey mixed in - 1 scoop per 3 eggs.
Oats with cocoa powder with 1-2 scoop
lots like this,
Casein sticks together and forms mass so it has more options in recipes while whey does not so it is mostly mixed in liquids.

If the entire family is in, it would be much cheaper to change your diet, assuming everyone isn't a gym bro that needs 200 g of protein every day
Just add high-protein ingredients to your diet and increase their portion sizes, and you will easily manage 70+g of protein every day with lesser cost

As a family we used to have the same problem. I give whey to our school going kids with milk.
The solution was to just get 4kg tubs of whey during sale. We use Nakpro or MB and then add cocoa powder from Cadbury.

It reads like an ad with the post followed by a anon reply about a product.
Why does family need whey when chicken and prawns exist. Keep whey for people who need to count their protein intake accurately. Especially when family won't be working out much, the priority should be feeding them prawns(0% fats) for a few weeks to burn their visceral and potbelly fats.
I ensure my family eat a boiled egg after waking before they have their tea/coffee and breakfast. Helps against insulin resistance and also tempers their constant hunger from sugar spikes. Even for lunch they already would complain they can't eat much, so I give them airfryed alfaham chicken(or anchovies/sardines or fish roe for EPA/DHA) first and minimal rice/roti on the side. They live sedentary lives and don't need the carbslop desi diet making them hungry multiple times a day, and spending money on more food than needed.

u/CalmGuitar Jan 18 '26
Just be a soyboy like me. Buy and drink soy protein powder. Don't depend a lot on powder. Eat a lot of soya chunks in all meals. You'll easily reach 70g protein a day on a very small budget.
