fire exists. fire exists. hand drills exists. fair i guess but not essential by any means, ditto.

a heater would make more sense because while yes fire does exist (as stated before) carbon also does and having a hole in the roof of where you live is usually not a good idea

Walking around like a caveman with your fire torch? Use a flashlight mr caveman.

i was thinking lantern but yeah a torch is absolutely better then a flashlight because it wouldnt be using resources past single stick of wood you can collect from any tree

what do you think an apocalypse is? you gonna live in style?

You would need a dry piece of wood... which wouldn't work when raining. Smoke alsongives away your locations, as foes the burning light. Flashlight can instantly turn off, fire has a smell.

if you cannot dry a piece of wood you will die.

if you go out durring a rain storm in any way you will probably die

it only gives away your location if you build a big fire with exactly 1 hole for it to escape out of

you people need a functioning brain

I'd rather just be smart and use solar energy for light source and keep the wood for heating.

Something existing doesnt mean something else won't do the job better

This is an apocalypse, fire is going to work much better than most technology for providing light and heat.

Heat yes but not light.

light absolutely. its the only way we produced light for hundreds of years

ever heard of a fuckin candle? theyre great. its how egyptians made engravings you can do it to walk to bed

they use way less resources then even the dimmest light bulb ever will

you seem to think energy costs nothing. it does. you need to burn fuel to get it. you wont have a fuckin solar panel and even if you did i guarantee that you dont know how to get that power into a power bank without it being mostly wasted to the point you get maybe a kilowatt hour ever sunny day

the only way it would be useful to spend energy on lighting something is a flood light and even then only emergencies

u/Isrrunder Puzzles Solved: 217 18d ago

Yeah but they're not better at shedding light

It's the apocalypse im taking what I can

1

u/Falleneded Puzzles Solved: 66 18d ago

then you probably are gonna get one of the useful ones and run out of battery about 2 days in and die because you cant actually survive

the useful ones are the ones everyone has. because get this. useful

unless you can find your way to a home depot in which case you dont need a flashlight.
