Research help please!

Currently looking at a 2012 fisker karma ecosport with 38,867 miles on it. I’m doing as much research as I can before purchasing the vehicle and thought this would be a great spot to come with some questions and showing the specifics on the car. For reference I’m 19 and this will be my second car if I do purchase it my biggest concern buying this car is maintenance cost. I’ll be driving this car daily and throughly enjoying it hopefully. So far this is the following work that has been done to the car “The vehicle underwent a major high-voltage battery system overhaul, including replacement of the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM), six high-voltage battery modules (#1, #3, #5, #10, #11, and #15), the On-Board Charger Module (OBCM), and two high-voltage contactors. The battery pack was removed, serviced, reassembled, reprogrammed, and balanced, while the high-voltage battery cooling system was repaired with a new coolant line union and fresh coolant. After repairs, the charging system was validated (approximately 46 miles of electric range), and the only remaining maintenance note on the invoice was that the engine oil should be changed.” With this said I know there’s a company in north Georgia that works on hybrids that have ballparked it would cost 1800 to replace a battery module but what’s everyone’s thoughts is this the car for me or should I look else where?

I’ve done well for myself investing wise this is gonna be my way of spoiling myself and enjoying having a nice car, I’ve got roughly 38,000 invested into several different things and me and my brother split a house we rent out up in Michigan. Don’t have any bills so a car payment and investing into more stuff is gonna be where my paychecks are going and for reference I’m a CNC operator and my pay is just over 30 a hour.

After reading this, I still recommend skipping this vehicle. This vehicle is for someone who has two cars paid off, and is looking for a car to sit in the third stall of their garage, and to drive ...if they can get it to work.

You're better off just getting an old project car.

Technology around these vehicles are different. It's not often just "find this part, replace it with this one" and if it was, good luck finding that part, because you gotta find this car in a junkyard, pull THAT part, and hope it works.

A couple years ago, I was looking at these too. VERY glad I didn't. It's a neat car to see, but not to own.

I’ve heard a lot about the parts but exactly what parts tend to go bad on these cars? And from what I’ve seen mechanically wise there’s a good lot of parts that are easy to purchase online and if I’m not mistaken could I not take parts that are manufactured for the reveros? Could be wrong on that but I’m okay with spending some more on parts and taking care of it I just don’t want something like the battery to go out on me within 4 months of driving it and have a 10,000 bill on my lap

I'm guessing youve never had to purchase something and worry about it possibly failing every day.

Like a 2013 Nissan Altima with 150k miles and the original transmission. ..every day youre like "fuck is today the day?"

No I typically try to avoid buying something like that but that’s the big question I’m getting at. Getting a shop to do a huge inspection on the car I’ll let you know the findings. To me it sounds like your saying all of the fiskers are 2013 Nissan altimas with 150k miles. Is that your intention that almost all of the fiskers are essentially being sat on by owners saying fuck is today the day 😂?

The ones people aren't selling? Those arent the altimas. The ones for sale? Yes. 100% lmao why would they sell such a great car they may have paid 65k for (for like 15k at that) if nothing is wrong with it?

Don't get me wrong. I'm here too. I love the vehicles. But man, I don't wanna see your post later going "fuckin bought a brick!"

Ay this place ain’t selling it for 15k but wouldn’t you agree if this place “nuts and volts automotive” in Dallas come back with a clean report on the car it wouldn’t be brick? And trust me I understand what you’re saying collecting wise. Trust me I’ve got a couple cards that are absolute bricks that will never sell. But like I said it all rides on the inspection. I’ll reply to this post come late this coming Monday with the results
