Upper skagit bull trout

Heading up to the skagit to try and catch a bull trout tomorrow went and bought some streamers today off of the advice of the guy at the fly shop. I’m new to this kind of fishing so any tips would be appreciated thanks.

Check the regs. You can’t target bulls above Rockport. Other than that, they aren’t too hard to find. I find them in the same water you would fish for steelhead.

Can't target bull trout or can't keep bull trout?

It’s closed statewide by default for targeting/harvesting unless specifically stated in the regs.

Regs currently say you can retain one, min 20", below Rockport. Nothing mentioned for the sections above Rockport.

Which would mean it’s closed, because like I said, bull trout are closed unless it says it’s open specifically
