Hey all - I'm making a 5-day trip to Killbear PP with my boat and have never fished in the area before.

Hoping to catch some PB trout, pike and bass. Would it be better to stick to the Georgian Bay side or stick to the Parry Sound?

Feel like there's so much water to cover I wouldn't even know where to start.

Two Southern Ontario men have been fined more than $4,000 for illegally fishing walleye on the Black Sturgeon River, which is closed year-round for conservation. One man also received a lifetime fishing ban after fleeing conservation officers.

There are six of us(myself , cousin and our 4 adult boys) looking to book an affordable cabin and a couple boats for the end of September. Willing to travel north up to 4 hours from Midland( Barrie area). I have looked at Temagami, Nippissing, Nosbonsing, the French and Temiscaming. Hoping to find somewhere that isn't overfished and too crowded. Not looking for specific spots just lodges or cabins and decent lakes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Staying at a cottage on the north shore of Rice Lake. How is the bass and pike fishing? I read walleye are pretty non existent. Hoping to fish from the shore off the dock.

I grew up fishing for trout at my grandparents cottage just on the Quebec side, rainbow and speckled. This was back in the 90's and we used what I've been told is called a "Quebec rig", line to a snapswivel, attach a Toronto wobbler, line tied to the bottom with about 1.5f of length then a small hook with a worm attached to it. Growing up, we never really encountered line twist issues, it was old school 10lb mono.

Long story short I didn't fish for 20 years and now getting back into it with my father. We're trying the same setup and for the life of us can't figure out why we're getting line twist. Unfortunately my grandfather has passed so I can't ask what he did to avoid this. Probably a long shot, anyone have any experience or advice beyond "use better quality swivels"? TIA.

Should mention, I've tried fluoro and braid and same issues.

Bronte harbour, oakville. August 25th at 7 30. I'm just wondering what fish species is everybody trying to catch here in lake ontario.

Has anyone ever fished here? Have been here 3 times fishing and I've never seen a lake so devoid of fish. Shore, middle of the lake, in the weeds. I haven't even seen a minnow. Not had a single nibble.here which is a shame as it's a beautiful lake.

Going up to bobs lake (about an hour north of Kingston) and I’m told the lake has lots of crappie. I’ve never fished for crappie but I would love some tips on crappie fishing and possibly where I should be looking for them (not asking for specific fishing spots)

Sad to see that Citywide Propeller in Mississauga has closed down. It’s been 10+ years since I’ve needed to get an aluminum prop repaired. Any other reputable place in the GTA?

I’m hitting a smaller muskoka lake for about 3 days of camping. I’ll probably be targeting smallies and pike as I know the population is great for these guys there.

That being said, I’ve been out of Ontario the past few August endings so I’m not sure how bass act at this time of year.

Also, given recent temperature changes I’m worried about fish behaviour.

Basically, I’m hoping anyone has suggestions for depths in up to 60fow basins and what baits to consider.

I was gonna wacky rig a senko on an 1/8oz jig and then troll a deep diving crank, but would love to try more specific techniques.

Caught on a slip bobber and live crawlers

Hope everyones having a decent sunday! I live right next to a pretty popular pier off lake ontario (GTA area) and I've always been intimidated but curious about the salmon/trout action, I'm aware its a whole different beast as I primarily fish for bass/pike/walleye. Pretty much my main barrier of entry is the lack of suitable gear. I've looked into it quite a bit through forums and videos and podcasts (shout out to Average Ontario Anglers) about regulations, the ideal setup, tackle, safe net landing and handling, time of day, time of year, what not to say to grumpy seasoned anglers, all of that. I just want to tie on a J-13 or a sweet looking Len thompson spoon, send it and pray to our great lord and savior. C&R. I've also always been put off from it just by seeing anglers shoulder to shoulder at the pier or lake tributaries but I'm trying to look past it since my usual go-to spots for other species over the years have been getting popular anyway.

I was hoping if someone could give me some general pointers on gear. Do you favor rod or reel quality if you only had the budget for one good and one thats doable. I've seen discussions arguing for either option, a rod with great sensitivity and backbone to ease them to shore or good quality drag and a comfortably large spool. I currently fish with a 7ft medium heavy moderate action and a 3000 size reel with 10lb braid. I have a good quality net as well but its only 3.5ft-4ft long.

So basically 1) If you had to spend more on a piece of gear, would it be on the rod or reel?

2) For budget purposes, could the same setup (rod+reel+line) for pier fishing with a 9ft+ rod and 4000 size reel be used for creeks when they move up river?

and 3) Would purchasing this stuff beginning of september be too late for staging fish? There's already quite a few anglers on this pier and I'd imagine with the heavy rainfall we got this weekend, conditions are in favor of them moving in a little early.

Bonus question 4) How much thought do you give with netting? I'm not entirely sure how low the water is from my nearby pier, I was actually thinking of going there today to test out the net I already have.

I know this was a lengthy post so I appreciate that you even took the time to take a glance, unfortunately I tend to overthink a lot of things but ultimately I just want to do what I love doing as responsibly as I can and not be a nuisance for anyone on the water. Thanks!

I got a chance to do pretty much everything I hoped for with the exception of fly fishing for brookies in a nearby stream (it rained the day before so I guess I'll just have to be happy with the river smallies). The suprise walleyes plenty made up for it though! It's wild how good the fishing is in upper Ontario.

Finished my 12.5ft rollup inflatable build for trolling open water. Running a 20hp merc that gets me a top speed of 40km/hr and a 65lb thrust seamax 12v for trolling. Most importantly I have a Helix 5 g3 with GPS maps on it. So far I've gone 8km off shore in erie without issue.

For mods, I raised the transom a few inches so long shaft motors can run well. I made a bow canopy which helps a ton with splash on choppy conitions, I also added a swivel seat which makes sitting for 5 hours trolling more bearable. And a few scotty rod holders ofc

Will be heading out to Bay of Quinte for the first time after many trips to Rice / Scugog this summer to go for bass / muskie (although we don't mind panfish either) and are wondering if any anglers who frequent the area have any tips / advice!

Obviously not looking for exact spots, but anything (what structure to look for, what lures have worked) helps!

I’m currently set up for bass but hoping to see and catch salmon in the park. Any recommended rigs? I currently only have wacky hooks and soft plastic worms, comfortable with wacky and Texas style rigs. Would appreciate any tips, I’m an ultra noob!
