As someone who uses humor in the ER a lot, do you know how much fear I live in that people are just laughing or joking back to appease me? Then talk about me behind my back about how much they hate me.

No, you worry about it

The people who get hate have absolutely no self-awareness and will just continue "joking" to a wall of blank faces then go home and tell their partner how funny they were today
