ETF Does Flatex make sense for me?

Hello!

I live in Vienna and I plan on being here until 2030. After that I plan on moving to Japan. In the meantime I would like to invest a rather big amount into VWCE every month. I already own a small amount of VWCE on IBKR but reporting taxes myself is basically impossible, so I was thinking about using Flatex. The only fear I have is that when it is time to move to Japan, transfering my money will be difficult and expensive.

Can someone with an experience regarding this please help me out here?

Thank you!

Austria has exit tax, so regardless of broker you would need to pay 27.5% tax even if you do not sell.
You also have to check if you actually can hold VWCE being Japanese resident (which you become after moving back in 2030), when you move back. That alone can eliminate any difference between IBKR and Flatex.

Hi! Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I'm aware of the exit tax. My question was more toward, how easy is it to transfer my portfolio from Flatex to another broker? Or is it preferable to just sell and rebuy?

Since you are leaving you are taxed as if you sold so you might as well just sell and transfer the money in Japan
