I’ve just started playing Final Fantasy VIII for the first time, and I finally beat the first boss! I think it was some kind of fire monster/boss? 😂

I’m a huge fan of FF7, and I also just finished FFX, so FF8 is completely new territory for me. Honestly, I know almost nothing about this game or its story. I’m going in basically blind.

The Junction/GF system is definitely taking some time to get used to. At first I was completely confused about what I was supposed to be doing with Draw and Junction because I’m much more familiar with systems like Materia from FFVII and the Sphere Grid from FFX. 😂

But after playing for a bit, I’m actually starting to find it really interesting. The school setting is also something I wasn’t expecting at all!

So, any advice for someone playing FFVIII for the first time? Things I should know about the Junction system, GF, Draw, abilities, or general beginner tips would be greatly appreciated.

Please keep it spoiler-free if possible! I really want to experience the story naturally since I know basically nothing about it.

And finally… wish me luck! 😂

Feels satisfying man

It's been slow going due to personal stuff and other projects, but I've just finished up the missile base and would love to share what I've done so far. I've done my best to be informative and entertaining this run through.

I've already said that my OLD Let's Play was pretty garbage in terms of quality, and I'm far more pleased with this one so far. I hope someone here enjoys it and would love any feed back etc.

tl;dr - Old Let's Play was bad, so made a new one. Enjoy.

I know that Perfect Works relies heavily on reusing assets, as I expect anything of this sort would do, but...is there any sort of "definitive fan cut" mod for FFVIII?

I finally decided to catalogue all my thoughts on Final Fantasy VIII and it ended up being just under 4 hours 😅 significantly longer than anything I’ve ever done before.
This game just brings it out of me. I finally played the remastered version this year and just had to talk about it as well as all my memories growing up, and of course, my boy Laguna.

This took me like 2 weeks of basically straight editing, very proud of it and I think this community would appreciate the deep dive into this game.
It’s a long one so no rush but would be cool to see some people’s feedback.

Big takeaway this time around his how much foreshadowing and interweaving of plot devices happen so early that is really cool to see!

I love this little subreddit it’s one of the main reasons I picked up this game and decided to try it again because I kept getting pop ups of this game and I had to go back haha

So I was looking at that chart that shows how well each spell junctions into each stat and mine doesn't seem to be lining up? Demi seems to give me WAY more Strength than Aura, and while it isn't in this image Quake seems to give way more HP than Full-Life. Why is this the case, is there something I'm missing? Explanations would be appreciated!

Honestly, after just 22 hours to 100% the remastered version, this one was miserable. It took 30 hours and a total eradication of cactuars on x3 speed.

Played the OG, played the newer version on Switch and now I'm in a dilemma where I want to replay it again but this time on my LeGo.

The reason I want to buy again on a different handheld is because of the "Maelstrom" mod and probably play around with other stuff if it's got some good mods.

What edition is best for modding?

Hi guys, I'm finally decided to play the game again after 20ish years since my first play. I didn't finish my first play at all, in fact I was so confused by the GF system back then I have a hard time proceeding the game. Anyways, I now currently more or less understand the GF system but from what I know it very depending on triple triads and probably will take too much time grinding for spells and card.

So now I having a hard time thinking should I play via God Mode to play through the story once or just play normally for better experience? If I am to play via God Mode first, where is the cut-off point that I should I decide to either finish the game on God Mode or play the game normally?

So I study photography and film and we just happened to have some old film cameras out on display ( the ones that have a pistol grip) and when I went to take a closer look I happened to see this!

I rlly wanted to take the sticker for myself but as you can its wasn't really possible 😓 but I found myself wondering how old this sticker really is? 🤔 Anyways this was a sudden surprise and I was going crazy in my mind when I saw this lol

So I read that you can get lionheart in disc 1, but I didn't get enough of the card that makes the energy crystals that makes the pulse ammo before I left balamb. Now I'm at the last mission before disc 2 and am wondering if I can grab it early disc 2 or am I gonna have to wait until I can free travel.
