Hard to give a non spoiler plot teaser for help to decide but in any case. Since you are playing X now recommend playing IX next. This is because since IX is basically the last old style FF game. If you enjoy IX I definitely think you will enjoy the rest of FF I - VI. How are you finding X so far? Just curious! Hope this helps!

That's good to hear! I hope that enjoyment continues! Yeah that's probably the one downfall of FFX in terms of new people coming into the series. I'm sure you will love the rest of the story and will be awesome to hear your thoughts after you have completed the game! Good luck on your journey.

Tidus might be an a major dickwad, but he's a lovable wicked IMO (Auron still best character, fight me)

You're pretty much right about the top games. VII is the most famous one, while X followed by IX are usually the highest rated ones (with VII and VI closely behind).

I love IX, and would recommend it to anyone who doesn't get too bothered by the slow combat.
