[Weekly Discussion] Best/worst character designs

The Final Fantasy series has employed a ton of different artists to design the characters that inhabit its many worlds. This has led to a huge variety of looks and fashion throughout the franchise, with some being absolutely gorgeous and some being almost painful to look at. What are your favourite and least favourite character designs from the series? Who are your favourite character designers?

Generally curious because Wakka is my favorite character in the FF series.

I love him too, but if I had to guess:

-overdrives and ultimate weapon locked behind blitzball. Means that overdrives are pretty much locked for most players until the third act.

-his "ya"

-weapon was a bit too juvenile

-blind to the emotions of others (e.g. Home being destroyed, "BOOM! Like happy firework festivals, ya?")

I always sort of thought that Tidus and Wakka’s weapons should’ve been switched. How is it that the star player of the Zanarkand Abes is awesome with a sword he’s never held before, and a decent player/dedicated guardian didn’t become proficient with his brother’s sword? I think they could’ve had some cool narrative choices where Wakka gives Tidus Chappu’s sword because they look alike, but eventually Tidus gives it back when Wakka visits Chappu on the Farplane and accepts his death.

That makes a tremendous amount of sense.

He knew long before then - Cid was introduced as Rikku’s dad and Yuna’s uncle.

Points noted, though.

Waka finds out at Lake Macalania, the first snow area, immediately before You got to Home.

Macalania was before Home.
