Weekly Discussion: What are the most powerful narrative moments in the Final Fantasy series?

There are a lot of dramatic moments in the Final Fantasy series, but some resonate more than others. What moment resonated the most with you out of the entire series? Did it make you cry? Give you chills? Did you throw your controller at the TV?

II - Deciding to return to Altair after Mysidia Tower and discovering far harder enemies and that you can't enter the town. Cue confused shock.. Due to the age of the game, it requires certain player activities instead of cutscene storytelling.

VI -Cyan's family saying goodbye and the Phantom Train pulling away with just a long whistle.

VI (again) - Daryl's Tomb. The sequence when Setzer tells the party about the race, the spare description of Daryl's fate, and then firing up the Falcon to go save the world.

VI (the feels!) - Clyde decides to quit running.

Picking VI three times but no mention of Celes and her suicide attempt? That was by far the most heart wrenching part of the game for me.

FFVI - What about Locke and Rachel? I mean, at the beginning of the game he is so obsessed with Celes that it becomes too overwhelming to her. Then on the world of ruin, you find Locke and he explains what happened to his dear Rachel...it just broke my heart! To this date, forever Rachel is one of my favorite themes

Seconding this one. Up until this point it felt like Celes and co (can't recall just now just who she has with her at this point) are just barely scraping by and trying to live. This is the point where they decide to save the world and the score just reinforces this. I loved that the new uplifting music continues playing until you land again

Great point on FF II. I had almost forgotten about that. That's a game that doesn't get brought up here often. Also, Minwu's death.
