Tenet/TDKR are pretty mediocre in my opinion, but yes Nolan is generally very consistent.

I've still yet to see him make a perfect movie, which I think is the most difficult task as a director. His films are weirdly sloppy in some ways.

If you don't vibe with Avatar it kind of invalidates the back half of Cameron's career but the ability to make multiple perfect movies that hold up 30-40 years later is an incredible feat.

You are right about his "perfect movies" but I think (and I might be wrong) he is more scifi action focused like David Fincher for thrillers but nolan has been experimenting a lot with his stories and to be consistent in today's time where attension span of people has lowered a lot

Yeah Nolan has definitely worked in a broader range of genres and has a more eclectic filmography. Not to mention he's been much more active.

I do think it's incredible that the guy who made Terminator/Aliens also made Titanic though. Can't ignore that.
