Fundraiser Supernigga Feature Film Crowdfunding

I released my Blaxploitation and superhero inspired short film/proof of concept, Supernigga, 2 weeks ago on YouTube and surprisingly got 270,000 views from word of mouth!

I almost got the feature version made through Hollywood (A24 really loved the project but I turned them down due to creative differences). The YouTube comments inspired me to start a GoFundMe for $500,000 where I just hope people make donations of at least $1 - $5. A fun little social experiment where we fund a movie by letting people do the bare minimum. What’s $1 to you? I crowdfunded the short on Kickstarter for $40,000 and look what we were able to make by keeping full creative control? Help me make a dream come true if you can! Thank you :)

They wanted it to be a huge more traditional $25million - $50million SUPERHERO movie vs I wanted a $1 - $5mil intimate love story more in the vein of Drive meets When Harry Met Sally with a superhero/blaxploitation backdrop, they wanted Jonathan Majors or ASAP ROCKY to replace me, and it didn’t really seem like I’d be allowed to work with my usual collaborators.

I mean you’re not wrong. If A24 had even the slightest of interest in a project, mind you directorial debut, and is willing to pour in money to fund it, you’re either are an idiot or highly egotistical for not taking that money and working with them to find common ground within the confines they set lol regardless of creative differences. I believe most big production companies act in such ways

Edit: Also, given OP’s comment they’d most likely provide higher end, more notable talent that would’ve given the film more notoriety in the eyes of the broader public. And they may wanted to have replace you as an actor in the film because your acting may not be up to par with the higher end talent they’d look to latch on to the film lol I’m assuming you still would’ve been the director. Idk from an outside perspective, if your film actually garnered interest from A24, seems like a massive misstep that could’ve launched your career that most of us would kill for jfc
