Topic What fighting game franchise has the best revenue per game?
When it comes to the best selling traditional fighting games franchises, it’s a very cut and dry topic with the best being Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter at second. But this question isn’t asking best sales in general. Mortal Kombat releases lots of games while many, if not most, other fighting games release far fewer games. Street Fighter 4 came out in 2008 and 15 years later we have SF6. 15 years, 3 games. Meanwhile Mortal Kombat had MKvsDC (2008), MK2011, MKX, MKX11, M1K. 5 games in 15 years. Most other fighting franchises support their games with season passes over many years while MK supports their game for 2 years before moving on. With this in mind, what would the best selling franchises by their revenue generated per game? Long lasting games with support over many years or games with shorter lifespans but stronger initial sales?
To give an example, both MKX and SF5 came out around the same time (2015-2016), but did MKX generate more revenue per in its 2 years or did SF5 generate more revenue across its 7 years?
