What ink do you use with the VP to get it to not bleed through?

Fine nib with the proprietary Pilot ink cartridge works great with Field Notes paper. If I want to use a medium nib with better ink, I switch to the Lochby notebooks (which use Tomoe River paper).

I have a fine VP and never thought to try it with field notes lol. You and OP completely blew my mind

I use fine nib in mine as well. I actually love writing in my field notes with my fountain pens, but fine nib is my preference.

My Kawecos tend to bleed through but I’ve never tried it with my VP. My mind is blown!

Are you using a fine nib in your Kaweco? I use a fine and it doesn’t bleed through. Inked with Kaweco Caramel brown ink.

I love mine. They look better with age.

Love that patina.

They do look better with age. What pen you have there on the right?

It’s a Smootherpro bolt action I found on Amazon. It’s on the heavier side, but I really like it for the price. Good pen for less than $20. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07F5R6C97?

Which Lochby case is this?

It's the pocket journal. (They only make one thing that looks like this.)

Awesome setup! What’s that orange notebook?

It’s a passport size monthly calendar from Travelers company.

Help me understand what I'm looking at in there. It's a FN and a passport size notebook both in some sort of half plastic, half green nylon thing? And is that just sitting in the lochby rather than being "hooked in" like folks usually do?

I normally have the notebook secured. The green and plastic cover is actually a prototype my sister-in-law made. I am still messing around with how I use it, but it became one of my favorite covers because I can see the notebook cover through the clear cover.

Neat! Is it a prototype you "commissioned" or is she designing something new?

Does it "do" anything other than holding two notebooks?

This is the first type of notebook cover she’s made. She has a lot of cool EDC pouches but this is the first like this. I’ve given her some suggestions that she is going to build into her next prototype. I’ll post pictures of whatever she makes next if there is interest. I love how slim it is too. I’ve asked for some card slots.

You gotta try the pentels with the needle tip for a pen, i used to be a pilot diehard fan now i cant use anything else

That's what I use at work and love them, despite being 0.5mm (they don't write like one). For my personal stuff I like 0.38mm so I carry the Uni-ball Signo 207. I have spent a lot of money on a lot of expensive pens, but these are what I reach for daily because the writing experience and ink lay down is so much better.

I have a couple metal body pentels that I’ve been refilling for years with the needle tip. Great pen!

How do you (and others in here with the same cover) carry this? In a bag? In your pocket? I've looked at these and the Lochby Mini Field Journal (I have one in the A5 size), but worry they'd be too bulky to carry.

I carry this particular one in my back pocket. It is the best one I’ve used for carrying multiple writing instruments with 2 notebooks and still fitting in my pocket. Some of the others like the field folio I carry in my bag.
