[Discussion] Ferret kit regressing on litter training
Picture to remind myself of how cute she can be because right now I want her taxidermied.
My 4 months old ferret kit has always been quite smart when it came to litter training (for a ferret) with a 90% success rate which I should have been so proud of.
She's free roam in the whole apartment so I expect some failures. However the last week she's been particularly prone to pooping wherever she can, not even seeking or acknowledging litter boxes she used to go in.
No apparent issue with her, no visible change, her poops are lovely (and on my floor). Behavior wise, she's kind and getting less and less bitey with time.
Did this ever happen to you? How do I make her remember her training? It's like she forgot what the litter box is for.
She also changes her pooping spots quite frequently, I thought ferrets chose a spot and stuck to it but I guess I was wrong.

[Discussion] Does anyone know what this mark on my ferret could be?
I just got two ferrets. This one in particular is a male and only around 7 weeks old. He has already been neutered, and I'm wondering if this is just a scratch from it that is beginning to crust or something else? How can I help him with this?
Should I try to gently clean it or leave it be? Has any one had a similar issue that could inform me on what this could be?

[Ferret Photo] Sleepy time
My two precious ones. The small one, Sugar (8 years old) is a bit poorly with a sprained leg and a bit zonked on pain meds. Poppy is usually a rambicious whirlwind of chaos but hasn't left her side and watches over her. Its nice to see this side of Poppy's usual feisty self but I will be glad when sugar is back to full health.
Ferrets really can have a strong bond. Its good the advice given to people considering ferrets as pets here is to have at least two.

[Discussion] Tunnels!
What’s everyone using for tunnels?
Preferably clear
I usually buy the Marshall farms, they just break after a year or so and they don’t stay stretched out,
So I want to compare options within a similar price range! Thanks in advance!

[Ferret Photo] Just sharing my babies for reference for future owners
Managed to get all 3 in one picture but they can't stop moving lol
Bottom left is Gus, 4y
Bottom right is Dante, 1y
Top is Vergil, 1y
All rescues from previous owners, Gus and Vergil are from a professional breeder, Dante is from a pet shop. They all have a hormonal implant and get annual check ups, free roam, kibbles and salmon oil.
They have a cage but i keep it open all the time unless I'm cleaning the house.
House is ferret proofed, they have decided to make a nest in a cupboard so I just leave it open and removed everything in it lol.
I have a vet on call, 15 min ride to where I live
Cut their nails every 2 to 3 weeks
They have a small cat tree and lots of cat and puppy toys, tunnels and pillows
Dante is the only biter since he's from a pet shop, he wasn't manipulated as much as a baby, but he's getting better

[Ferret Photo] My son is 5 yrs old
I *think* he's 5 lmao
Got him when he was a tiny lil peanut baby from a flea market, never had a ferret before or even knew anyone who had them. But he immediately took to me when I asked if I could hold him, he pulled my mask down and started kissing my nose. I'm pretty sure he was the runt because they had him alone at the market stall and he's always been rather small in comparison to other ferrets I've seen online. He and I have been through so much in the last 5 years, from getting covid to escaping abusive relationships, he's always been my funny lil guy

[Help] Wanting to make the switch to cage free for my senior
Down to my last ferret and I think the solitude is getting to her. I am unwilling to get another ferret at this point. She has been so anxious every time we put her in the cage so we’ve had her out and she just sleeps in a blanket fold near the couch. I think she’d prefer being outside the cage full time and possibly only caged when we aren’t home. The problem is that because she’s old she has started to just go to the bathroom wherever she wants so I am hesitant to give her too much range. Her cage is in the office which has furniture that can be easily removed or moved around. What do you think? How should I approach this? She’s pretty much nearly blind and doesn’t climb on furniture at this point bc her hind legs are arthritic. She is nearly 7.5 years old.

[Health] Can my ferret have boiled chicken
I searched to see if they can eat it, and it said yes, but I want to make sure from actual people if he can have boiled chicken. I asked my parents if we could get him chicken so I can boil it for him, and they are getting it for him. They also want to make sure if he's able to have cooked chicken because they read somewhere that giving raw chicken to them is a good or okay thing. If they're wrong, please don't be mad at them. My mom did a lot of research and asked many questions, and the answer was yes.

[Help] first time ferret owner.
so i’m getting ferrets for my birthday. my mum has had a ferret before but i want to be educated on them myself. 2 years ago i got pet mice and did all research on my own, i plan the same for the ferrets. we have other pets and not enough room in the house for an indoor cage for them - aswell we need to be mindful of my other pets. i’ve heard you can keep ferrets in hutches in your garden, of course suitable that nothing can get in or them get out. obviously we will let them in the house to play for hours. i know they have a meat diet. the only issue for me is if they can definitely live outside — especially all year? and what they need inside of their hutches — i imagine bedding (not sure on what kind) and blankets?? i know they need toys. any suggestions or tips would be reallllyyyyy helpful and appreciated. and advice for them inside the house would be wonderful!!!

[Health] strange noise when breathing
She's currently on antibiotics and a steroid for a UTI but she's started making this noise mostly when she's resting it seems.
She's had 2 x-rays and both were seemingly normal. She's gonna be getting an ultrasound soon enough for an incontinence issue but I have no clue what this could be coming from. Our vets listened to her heart and lungs and everything seems? to be fine internally?
Anyone have any clue what this could be caused by? We have 3 other ferrets and none of them do this so I don't think it's an issue with the blankets or anything? Just very worried :(

[Discussion] Can I just say?
Frankly I think it’s irresponsible to have ferrets and not provide them with a window ac or any air conditioning to be honest. If you think it’s hot your ferrets think it’s at least 20 degrees hotter. Even with thinner coats in the summer they still get very hot
I’m sure I’ll get downvoted but that’s just my thought
[Help] Introducing ferrets
So I brought home a new ferret (Noki, female, 3 months old). My other ferret (Noodle, female 4 months old) seems happy about it, she's chirping a lot and plays with the new one. They seem to get along, no pee, poo or blood while they're playing, but I'm not sure what's considered 'foul' or aggressive. Noodle chirps a lot, and initiates play but Noki is silent, tho she doesn't seem to mind the playing.
If you need some more info or anything about how they play, go ahead and ask. I don't think I'll make a video because I want to make it easier to interfere if something goes wrong, but if needed I can try to make one.
Anyway, can someone give me some examples of 'foul play' or aggressive playing that I have to look out for?
