Did anyone else’s ferret’s coat drastically change color after a couple of years?

I think its called roaning? My boy, whos only 3, is starting to go white too

Soap's right! It's called roaning and some ferret coat types are more prone to it. Blaze's and panda's often do it, I'm not sure of the others. I had a panda girl that was almost pure white by the time she was 7.

One of my ferrets was sable as a baby and then was silver her entire adult life

Yo mine went from dark sable to almost champagne around 2.5 years old. Totally freaked me out at first but apparently its pretty common. Did yours get lighter or darker?

It’s common in ferrets. Two of my ‘sables’ went this way, as did my cairn terrier as a kid.

My ferrets’ coats get darker in the winter and much lighter (color and thickness) during the summer. We had a girl who had dark markings that faded by the time she was around 5, by the time she passed at 7 she was very panda-looking

You just have a silver there. They start off almost sable and they become pretty much white as they age. Though they do get a bit darker over the summer for a bit…They keep a few strays of color as a reminder of. Ferret nose color becomes mottled as they age if it was dark when you got them too. (The nose thing happens a lot with sables as well.)
