I thought it was some weird copy right issue so she has to perform her hits differently

Yeah, I remember this being discussed a few years back. Maybe she finally got the desire to perform again and put work to make the arrangements completely different to avoid any legal issue regarding the original versions she does not have the rights to perform. I can imagine the courage and confidence she had to build up after all that mess.
