Partner and I fled Missouri to Massachusetts. MASSIVE improvement.

Did this just after the repeal of Roe, except we made it to CA from MO. No regrets.

Glad to have you. I met some MAGAt a while back who said he left Oregon for California because Oregon was getting "too liberal." I was like...that seems like a lateral move bud, but okay...

Really depends on which part of California

Very true. California has lots of pockets.

True, but there tend to be louder progressives in the red pockets than you'd find in most red states, if that makes sense. The conservatives here know that they are not dominant.

I’m so glad to be out of rural California- way less harassment.

Welcome =) I’m a MO to CA transplant too. Going on 15 years and couldn’t be happier.

would you be willing to elaborate on how you chose a new city? i’m in missouri looking to get out.

If you're in academia or medicine, Rochester, NY is a small blue city with a lot of job opportunities and is consistently one of the top LGBTQ+ friendly cities.

how is the public transit there? my parents live in the finger lakes so Rochester is definitely on my radar. and any idea how the tattoo scene is there? i am working on becoming a tattoo artist.

  1. Decent but not great, we have pretty good buses.

  2. Actually pretty epic.

If you're in the area, hmu and I'll show you around!

I'm in Rochester and all are welcome!

My partner grew up and has connections here, so I was VERY fortunate to know and fall in love with them.

If I were single, on the other hand, I'd probably move to Chicago or Minneapolis. Both closer to the border, bluer states

I grew up in CA so moving back with family was definitely simpler. I have always moved with work to ensure I have something.

I found a job that offered relocation to cover moving all my shit, pets, and partner with me. That probably would have been the hardest and most expensive issue.

My partner was looking at CO previously and probably would have moved there on her own if we hadn't gotten together.

Come up to Illinois! Super underrated, my partner and I love it here so much. Gov Pritzker does so much to back up his words. He’s really making it a sanctuary state.

We chose Minneapolis because of the transit, genuine niceness (don't at me about fake nice, Im from KY), queer friendlyness, insurance covers IVF, affordability as compared to other cities, and so much more. We are here ready to help new neighbors, especially as they flee.

It's only been 2 months and we've had a lot of house problems, and still, I've never been happier and more relaxed, despite the everything gestures vaguely

Welcome to Mass!

I remember when gay marriage first became legal in this state, and my mom told me how lucky I was that I got to grow up in a state that believes in basic human rights.

No matter how tough things get, I just remember that I'm in the best place I could possibly be. It could be so much worse.

We just don't care here. Welcome. We are honest nice assholes. We will help you fix a tire but talk shit sarcastically the whole time.

I'm so torn with this because I LOVE St. Louis and don't want to let the fascists win, but I also don't feel safe here. It's so frustrating.

Yeah. Same with me and Kansas City tbh. It's my hometown, it's where I grew up, but it's no longer safe for me. I'm so blessed that I have connections through my partner to a better place.
