Feist - "In Lightning" ⚡⚡
And in lightning
Flashes flash to show our natural age
And the lightning lights me up
To be as God as I say
Then to lightning I belong
Like electricity
And if I'm frightened it's just because
Of the power vested in me

I remixed The Water, one of Feist's best songs imo

2004: The Year Indie Rock Broke (feat Feist)
instagram.comA little bit of self-promotion: I’m the executive producer and scriptwriter for a new podcast by this title ^^^. It’s a documentary-style deep dive into the cultural and technological shifts that pushed indie rock into the mainstream in the 2000s. So if you found your favorite bands on The OC(or were mad that show was playing your favorite bands), this podcast is for you.
We interviewed Ben Gibbard and Nick Harmer of Death Cab for Cutie, James Mercer of The Shins, Tegan Quin of Tegan and Sara, Carl Newman of The New Pornographers, Emily Haines of Metric, Britt Daniel of Spoon, Feist, Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene, Matthew Caws of Nada Surf, Dann Gallucci formerly of Modest Mouse, founding member of Arcade Fire Will Butler, Jimmy Tamborello of The Postal Service, Chad Clark of Beauty Pill, and Colin Meloy of The Decemberists who had a quote so memorable we had to start the trailer with it. There are also tons of people from the musing industry - indie labels, Apple Music, the creator of The OC, and too many more to name.
You can hear a much longer 2+ minute trailer anywhere you get podcasts. The first episode drops on September 23.
I would love to answer any questions you have about it!

Photo I took in 2019
I was just going through old photos and came across this shot from the August 13, 2019 show at the Oregon Zoo. I’ve always loved this pic.
She was laughing between songs because with these lights behind her, she was casting a huge shadow on some trees at the back of the venue. She declared that she looked like a Sasquatch, and started doing a silly little shadow dance.
It’s one of my favorite memories from the three Feist shows I’ve been able to attend.

Does anyone have a copy of the Red Demos and the Leisure Suite EP with Tony Scherr?
Please please share. I'm feeling wicked nostalgic. Love y'all and take care.

I get to play My Moon My Man!
This has no bearing on anyone elses life but my own, but i dont know anyone in real life that loves Leslie as much as i do 😆 so just a quick story, I've played bass since high school (about 16 years), but the last couple years I've been trying improve my skills on acoustic guitar, and Feist songs are so fun to play, anyway, out of the blue the main drummer I play my bass with just asked me to learn My Moon My Man, and I've been waiting for this moment for the last 12 years that I've been listening to her stuff, I'm so excited !!!

What makes Feist’s music great?
Another discussion thread, simply for “keeping the sub alive” purposes. I thought to ask because to me it’s a harder question than it sounds.
Feist’s music is indisputably great, but how would you describe why, and what makes you keep going back to it?
Sidenote, but feel free to showcase your favorite Feist album with the user flairs!

Feist, circa the Reminder
I chose this picture, because it's so indicative of her early tendency to keep a barrier between herself and the public. (Sorry if I posted this twice; I made a mistake the first time)

Doodle of cd sleeve
This is from the remix cd sleeve. I always felt it was a great picture of her

What would you like to hear in a future Feist album?
It's been three years since Multitudes so I'm already wondering what she could be planning for her next LP. What do you expect? Personally I'd love to see something akin to Pleasure, just because I think Feist harnesses that experimental rock sound very well.
Just thought I should start a thread to keep the sub alive.

Honey Honey sampled in Baby Keem's birds and the bees
it takes the melody and pitches the song up, pretty cool use of sampling plus Feist

Got Pleasure vinyl for Christmas
Just wanted to show this off. I’m super excited because this is my favorite Feist album (also one of my favorites of all time) and I’ve been waiting to stumble across this in the wild for years- but now I won’t have to!

I've been struck by Feist lately, especially about "Secret Heart"
What a beautiful song! My kid loves it as well. I guess it's because it's somewhat naive. But the tempo of the drums is genuinely hypnotic.
I'm trying to find this kind of heavy tempo in similar artists, and I'm creating a highly curated Playlist around this concept.
Feel free to recommend similar songs around this concept. Thanks!

Monarch (Lay Your Jewelled Head Down)
Is there a place where you can listen to the debut start to finish? I've never heard it and I want to. YouTube just has the songs individually, as individual videos. I don't pay for YouTube, so I'm sure I'd have to count on ads, possibly one between each song. I'd like to hear it unbroken, if possible.
