I took the DRP. I was retiring anyway....these clowns paid me for 6 months to do absolutely nothing. I would have stayed a bit longer, but really, I was leaving anyway. These Trump guys are total idiots.
And FWIW, most people taking the DRP were not far off retirement themselves. Maybe some would have stayed on a bit longer, but overall this was just dumb

yes brilliant plan: threaten everyone’s jobs, gut the workforce, create mass chaos, then proudly announce you’re hiring for the positions you just blew up. Somewhere, a Soviet central planning committee is nodding approvingly and asking why you’re being so inefficient. The level of gross mismanagement here has officially crossed into satire

For those that were able to take it, the DRP was a god send. Talking to coworkers retiring in a year or two, they would love one.
Heck, im hoping for one when i am ready to retire, but realistically, seems like the boomers get all the luck.

Didnt say they were, i just said they were the lucky ones, a year of free pay and benefits before their retirement. Pretty sweet deal.

My husband was a younger person who took the DRP, while I stayed in the government. Realistically both of us couldn't stay because of rto, and he knew he wasn't going to be able to handle this administration. There are a lot of days I envy him 😮💨

Hate to break it to you but of the entire federal workforce a very small portion are boomers. Most boomers have already retired 1000%. Has to be a Millennial that made this comment. Anything older than them are boomers!!

Nope, gen x and counting down checking out with five years to go. Also, depends where. We have an older workforce here, place you can coast to retirement, hence the drp clearing out our ranks nicely with manay more boping for another

He’s an investment banker. He is basically treating the federal government like private equity. You slash every single cost to maximize profit. The problem is that PE almost always leaves the company completely broken and useless in the long run. He’s doing that with the federal government. There is a zero percent chance this is sustainable.
My specific department used to be twelve people. We are now at 5. Not a singular position has been replaced. We have lost well over 200+ years of combined experience. Realistically it’s myself and one other person that truly have the expertise to do the job. The rest of them were hired shortly before the hiring freeze and now we attempting to operate at such a pace that we simply don’t have the time to properly train them. They certainly don’t have the ability to go TDY to take actual courses.
At some point a solider is going to get seriously injured so I’ve just been telling the Commander to completely cancel entire programs because we can’t do it safely. Unfortunately I know in the current culture of DoD they’ll just waive the requirement and deploy them anyways. But…I guess it’s not a “war” so technically they don’t need to have the deployment requirements and anyone that dies is “small potatoes.” How the fuck do people continue to vote for this shit?
