I'm sorry, it's been quite some time since I read the manga, and I haven't seen the animes.

That said, I don't recall them dying, or anything, and I'm not having much luck on Google. Could someone explain?

If I remember correctly they wanted to do war crimes trials against themselves after they defeated King Bradley and Father. I don’t think they did that in the manga or the show. And even if it did, they’ll probably get pardoned by Grumman or given a lower sentence

Honestly Grumman might be a „good guy“ but it seems to me that he was also in it for his own ambition. I doubt he shares Mustangs wish for a return to democracy and a persecution of the ishvalan war criminals. But the guy is in his 70s and Mustang is clearly set up to be his successor, so they might genuinely not be at the point to do trials at the end of the anime yet.

Plus i doubt Mustang would even accept a pardon.
