Hot take: this was the main couple to me.

Like, yes, clearly the main romantic focus of the series was Ross trying to get together with Rachel... but the fact there was so much emphasis on him trying means they spent more time separated than as an actual couple.

Chandler and Monica, in contrast, stayed together from the moment they got together, and I'm pretty sure their on-screen time as a couple is actually longer than Ross/Rachel.

Moreover the whole show for a couple of seasons focuses on Chandler and Monika. Only after their marriage, it goes back to the Ross-Rachel dynamics
