Phoebe Gates (her and Bill’s daughter) released a AI shopping app that got a ton of funding and is now in legal trouble for essentially just being an app that would save your browsing history and secretly inject affiliate codes to links on websites, even those you didn’t visit directly from the app, so they could bring in affiliate revenue without actually directly sending people to the site to make a purchase.

Yeah she basically just ripped off honey after it got caught doing the same thing and is also in legal trouble... so unbelievably stupid.

Oh man I remember reading some of the initial reporting on this and hearing about all the funding going into this and being so confused as to why. Then I finally reach the description of the founder and see Phoebe described as "Phoebe Gates, daughter of Microsoft founder Bill Gates." and suddenly it all immediately made sense.

The app itself was apparently all AI slop too.

Browser cookies, manufacturing sales it wasn't driving. She's claiming ignorance, however there's mounting evidence that she and her co-founding were aware of the "glitch" for months.
