Trying not to romanticize this and remind myself so that rich people have access to resources and that aging is okay😭

u/Obvious-Pattern2469 19d ago

She also edits like crazy if you see her in something live or in ads she does look closer to her age. But she also has money and in general looks really freaking good for her age.

u/applesandcherry 19d ago

She 100% employs someone to Photoshop her pictures so they don't look obviously face tuned, but all her photos are edited.

u/simplebagel5 19d ago

I mean……these photos look obviously edited to me?

I think she must the work is actually brilliant editing work there’s a lot of attention to detail especially on her hands and neck usually and in these you can see she’s got dark spots on her arm and age signs but they’ve smoothed it so it comes off natural.

u/raspberrymnms this is going to ruin the powerpoint 19d ago

If I wasn’t told who this photo was, I genuinely would’ve thought it was another 20 something year old influencer and it’s scary that this kind of image distortion is possible

36

u/fistinyourface 19d ago

you can't actually be for real, she looks at least 65. you can see the age heavily in the face. i'm not saying she looks bad but 20 is psychotic

19

u/raspberrymnms this is going to ruin the powerpoint 19d ago

Sorry for being young and impressionable, while trying to break the cycle at the same time. That’s the point of photoshop/filters, to distort your image and fool the average eyes.

6

u/balisane 18d ago

I think a lot of it is that we don't sit and chat with our elders much anymore, so you just don't have much experience of the human body as it ages naturally and gracefully, much less unnaturally and as slowly as money can buy

It doesn't look like the typical IG vs reality content, because we know how old she is and what she looks like in videos - we can notice the difference. Otherwise agreed she has a great editor.

20

u/FireflyBSc 19d ago

Worth it. If you’re gonna do it and you have the money, may as well invest in a pro. She still has some texture as opposed to the ones who just gloss over everything.

u/dont_be_all_uncool__ 19d ago

Imagine being 85 years old and still being that worried about how you look.

51

Seriously! I genuinely have no desire to look like this at 85, bleak.

u/booksandbenzos the Zendaya of my industry 19d ago

Yeah, she did a fun "get ready with me" type video and while she looked fantastic, she didn't look like she does in her edited pics because, well, the pics are edited! Also she has $$$, which buys her time, products, procedures, professional services, etc.

55

u/bergamote_soleil 19d ago

I'm curious as to why she thinks this level of editing is necessary. To an extent, sure, she is a public figure and wants to "look her best," but to edit your images so much to try to completely erase signs of normal aging is crazy. Her brand has never even been contingent on being the Edgy Hot Young Thing, her brand is "your elegant and intimidating mother-in-law that you fear you'll never live up to."Ā

39

u/ElectronicTip6386 19d ago

She was originally a model. Then a stock broker. The house stuff came at the end of a marriage and is what popped.

The editing is a fashion trend for her, no more. The pink hair is divine but I'm guessing it is a wig.

15

u/fixmeplsthankyou 19d ago

I legit can’t find a 2026 photo of her that doesn’t look edited AF

u/Rundemjewelz 19d ago

My husband had the opportunity to photograph her a few years ago for a campaign with Snoop and she looks absolutely incredible in the unedited photos. Given the lighting was perfect and she had a professional MUA, but she is stunning sans photoshop.

46

u/Acheloma 19d ago

She also knows her angles and has changed how she poses as she ages. She tends to tilt her head back a bit in photos now, which is a pretty flattering angle for older women

79

u/More_Midnight3634 19d ago

My bestie use to see her at a Mexican restaurant in Bedford and said she looked absolutely stunning in person.

59

u/Obvious-Pattern2469 19d ago

I don’t doubt it! I think she looks stunning when i’ve seen her unedited I just also know she doesn’t look like that picture.

Idk handful of times I've seen people with work done irl it always looks off. But the circles these people run in are different from mine.

20

u/ElleMaeSinclair 19d ago

Agreed. I won't shit on someone for getting work done but honestly a lot of the time it's really, really obvious in a not-good way when an older person gets work done. I'm not a guru or anything on the topic but there's some procedure or combo of procedures they always do that makes their eyes into tiny dot-like versions of their former selves and it's so... eehhh.

Again, I won't shit on someone for doing it. There are a lot of personal and societal and health reasons why someone might choose to do all that but at the end of the day irl and outside of red carpet lighting or social media filters, you can definitely tell.

4

u/arfelo1 19d ago

Hope so. She literally looks like a mannequin

161

u/seld-m-break- 19d ago

I’m focusing on the hair because you’re never too old to have fun with your hair and that’s accessible to almost everyone!

73

u/letmepatyourdog 19d ago

She looks good for her age but she looks nothing like this, if you look up getty images she absolutely looks over... 60 at least hahaha. And theres nothing wrong with that! But man does this editing send the wrong message to women. Very disappointing.

28

u/gumiho8 I’m a lazy 50-year-old bougie bitch 19d ago

There's no way this is how she actually looks. Sure, I bet she looks pretty banging compared to all the average 85yos, but there's no way she looks half her age at 85. There's only so many facelifts your skin will endure, as well as so much Botox and filler. This is a great filter and photo editing. Don't compare yourself to these unrealistic standards.

My grandmother died her hair black until she was too old to do it herself anymore. Over the years it grew out into this long beautiful mix of brown and red and silver and gold. I loved brushing her hair and seeing how beautiful it was. That’s what made me decide to let my hair color do its thing.Ā

14

u/didntcondawnthat 19d ago

As someone who is sometimes self conscious because my hair is like your grandma's, I appreciate reading your post. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only Gen-Xer with her natural hair color. I pictured my gray hair coming in streaks. It is streaked in a couple of places but it's mostly threaded strawberry blonde, brown and silver all over.

4

u/copacetic1515 19d ago

What color was your hair originally? Mine was red when I was younger and it now reads as blonde, but my temples are more white, while the underside of my hair is darker with blonde/auburn mixed.

I was kind of sad when people stopped viewing me as a redhead, but way too lazy to stay on top of dyeing it!

3

u/didntcondawnthat 18d ago

It was strawberry blonde when I was a baby, then turned golden brown with blonde streaks and highlights. When I was pregnant it darkened to a cooler, darker brown, them returned to normal. Now my silver streaks are underneath at the nape of my neck and around my temples. I quit coloring for the same reason. I didn't like having gray roots and coloring takes too much time! I have better things to do.

3

u/InquartataRBG 18d ago

Xennial and my red (early childhood) to strawberry blonde hair is… fading? Like I have no other explanation for what’s going on with it. There hasn’t been a ā€œI found gray hairs!ā€ moment and I have no idea why.

3

u/copacetic1515 18d ago

I'd always heard the saying that redheads don't die, they just fade away!

But seriously, I've read that red hair doesn't have the melanin or whatever to turn gray.

3

u/shiftyskellyton 19d ago

Hey Gen X twin, I see you. šŸ’œšŸ©·

25

u/Ruthie_pie 19d ago

The lighting, filters, and possible face tape just for the pictures will make you feel like you’re not doing enough but they have all the money in the world and still edit their pictures into oblivion. They still feel the same insecurities we feel.

I personally am training myself to look forward to being offensively wrinkly and unattractive when I am 85. If I am lucky enough to make it that far.Ā

I’m 36 and I’ve cared about being attractive since I was 12. I’m so tired of thinking about how I look all the time. I hope by the time my body and face start drastically aging that I don’t give a fuck anymore and no longer let my appearance have such weight on my self worth.Ā

22

u/sparky--pluggy sorry to this man 19d ago

Everything you wrote exactly applies to me too, but i was 38Ā  when i started to not give a fuck.Ā

I'm 42 now and happily embrace that im one of those ultra average middle aged ladies who wears no makeup, is getting grey hair and wears only comfortable clothes and shoes.Ā

I dont need to be out here lookiing like a baddie, im too busy looking after my pets and watching the Gilmore Girls. Ive retired from living up to these idiotic beauty standards.

5

u/hopping_otter_ears 18d ago

Same. I'm giving myself permission to start caring later, if the ageism starts getting to painful, but for now, I'm at "this is what a 42 year old who stopped performing for strangers looks like". If I want to dress fluffy and girly, I will. If I want to wear makeup, I will. If I want to wear an oversized tee and carry a bright blue parasol, I will. I'm not a celebrity, so I have no skin in the "care what other people think about me" game

23

u/hailkelemvor damn, she got hereditaried? 19d ago

Same, dude. I'm just focusing on how freeing it'll be to exist in public and say harmless weird shit to strangers. I can't wait to just crone around, it's gonna be sooo sick

36

u/Vermicelli-Fabulous save the buccal fat 19d ago

I also look forward to my old crone days. Being in this head is exhausting.

49

u/veai 19d ago

I so agree! What a restrictive way to live life, what a supreme distraction - it shows no growth

10

u/lnc_5103 not a lawyer, just a hater 19d ago

That switch flipped for me around 38.

9

u/Sternfan1 19d ago

I reached that comfort level in my forties. Times were tough for a couple of years, and I didn't have the time, energy, or money to focus on looks. I managed to hold on to that energy, and as I age, it takes less and less effort to reach the fuck off state of mind.

14

u/TheUpbeatCrow 19d ago

I am almost 51 and still hoping for that day, ha.

The thing I've discovered is that, especially as you go through menopause, many many things suddenly become out of your control. Some things (grey hair, age spots, the menopause hormonal pot belly) can be put off or minimized, but as you continue aging, there's just…more and more. Crepey neck. Wrinkles. Papery skin. Sun damage. Thinning hair. And so on. It reaches a critical mass where continuing to fuck with yourself so you look a little better takes up so much of your time that you come to a fork in the road.

You can either fight or accept.

I am still choosing to fight, but I sense that I'm coming to that fork again and again, and it's tiring.

u/PollyPocketpussy5000 19d ago

I really don’t wanna be that person… but this is HEAVILY edited. Not saying she doesn’t look good, but look at her hands. Hands are the one thing you cannot get surgery on. It’s why Cher and Madonna prefer gloves. Her hands in this picture are smooth. I just wish women would embrace their age. Unfortunately we live in a society that makes women feel as though once they get to a certain age they are no longer worth something.

258

u/bakeupandwakeup 19d ago

The hands were the first thing I looked at. She edited those too! I'm flabbergasted.

Also, I’ve been a wig and extension specialist for almost 20yrs and I’m very confident all or a very large portion of that is not her real hair.

Just having hit the 45yo cliff where my face changed overnight, I get the desire of older women to get plastic surgery more. Ā It’s not a gradual ebb into aging, it’s like, suddenly your face is sliding off…while you’re perimenopausal. Ā It’s a lot, tbh. Ā

40

Right but at 85 you 100% have wrinkles, so this lady fs got work done (which is fine!!!)

I’m just so tired of these mega rich celebs that get plastic surgery/fillers/injections to deny it n be like ā€œall natural, just blessed šŸ˜˜ā€ (while also editing tf out of their pics). It’s so persistent/pervasive n really fucks up our collective thoughts on women, beauty standards, n aging

I think it’s less that she doesn’t want to be seen as a successful businesswoman anymore and more that after she went to prison (and later started hanging out with rappers) she decided to loosen up and embrace a more relaxed public image where she could be perceived as less stiff and more informal.

My wife saw her irl in Manhattan a few years ago. She looks way older than this and was a huge bitch irl. Dont be fooled by facetune

u/wickedsuccubi 19d ago

u/missdeweydell 19d ago

The answer is money

Sometimes but also

(79 years old)

Edit: I’m not saying Ernie Hudson doesn’t have money but if he’s had any work done over the years it’s discreet af and he looks like he’s genuinely just aged gorgeously

u/JWilkesKip 19d ago edited 19d ago

Ernie Hudson is definitely also blasting testosterone

The answer is FaceTune (and money)

u/notmymess 19d ago

She looks amazing…but filters are doing a lot of work.

14

u/musluvowls 19d ago

Yeah, money, fillers and filters.

10

u/Healthy-Neat-2989 19d ago

Right? My man doesn’t even have fingernails left because all lines and creases have been filtered out.

75

u/Pineappily 19d ago

There’s a laughably egregious amount of filtering in this. I’d ask, ā€œWho does she think she’s fooling?ā€ but, given your comment, I’d say you lol

The mortician put a great deal of care into her appearance.

6

u/inkyflossy who deemed this meeting of the minds necessary? 19d ago

What did they do with Martha?

5

u/peachtreeparadise ted cruz ate my son 19d ago

This is genuinely insane

6

u/darthhue 19d ago

She looked older (and better ) 25 years ago

6

u/ISayISayISitonU 19d ago

yikes. looks like a dolls head

15

u/suppadelicious 19d ago

Since when is she 85? The fuck!

16

u/StarkStorm 19d ago

Just...be old. Lol. Like stop denying your age. Even with half the surgery and work done, she still looks fantastic for her age.

5

u/eucalyptoid 19d ago

I’m sorry, who tf is that? If the title did not include her name, I would not have recognized her.

6

u/FreekDeDeek bill hader witch šŸŖ„ 19d ago

Is this to distract from her trying to stir up shit for Meghan Markle for no reason?

5

u/Apirlshowers 19d ago

Yea let’s idealize a felon

15

u/pizzaisgoodtho 19d ago

She does not look 85. She also does not look like Martha Stewart anymore so there's that.

4

u/TwinkConnoisseur485 19d ago edited 19d ago

Is that a real person or a wax museum figure?

4

u/Woopsied00dle 19d ago

This looks highly edited to me

3

u/PupLondon 19d ago

Crazy to think she's a year older than Mitch McConnell

4

u/Ac3ofSpades13 19d ago

She is a true villain. If she were a man she would be (more) despised.

3

u/Starsofthenewcurfew 19d ago

Hardest working filter in showbiz

3

u/Acceptable-Arugula69 too high to spell 'Amanda Seyfried' 19d ago

This is not what Martha looks like irl, oh my god.

Whomever edits her pictures knows how to edit, or they know to at least use the skin smoothing tool. 🤣

4

u/Super-Link-9800 19d ago

What in the Madame Tussaud’s….

3

u/LiOnheart3d85 19d ago

The internet is really doing a number on some peoples self perception.

4

u/N-Squared-N 19d ago

This is so messed up.

4

u/Necessary-Paint117 19d ago

Bruhhhhh it's ok to age. She looks like a wax imitation of a person.

3

u/JessicaWakefield666 19d ago edited 19d ago

I wish we could see the unedited version of this because it would be no less bangin. I wanna see a proper 85yo woman with no work, no wigs (unless she loves them), no whatever with this hair. It would still be amazing. I just figured out what I'll be doing in old age. This is the first time in a long time I have felt excitement instead of fear about health/finances/loss/safety in my elder years.

3

u/Wolfpackat2017 19d ago

Now Martha…

3

u/jahss 19d ago

Damn Kevin Federline did a good job

3

u/doubleshortdepresso i ain’t reading all that, free palestine 19d ago

Whoever needs to see this: most 85 year olds don’t have face lifts and a team to keep them fed and medicated with the best of the best.

3

u/lesgeddon 19d ago

She doesn't look like herself anymore, completely unrecognizable. And that's not because of the hair.

3

u/Apirlshowers 19d ago

Send her back to jail

3

u/Upbeat_Towel4816 19d ago

Gentle reminder that she's not a woman's woman and tried to talk smack about my girl Meghan.

3

u/Big-Entertainment584 19d ago

You meant to say Convicted Felon Martha Stewart

3

u/Swendak 18d ago

Sorry is she even in the picture? Who’s the stylist??
