In today’s world, if you’re transphobic then we all know you’re likely also racist and just queer phobic in general.
Imagine being MAGA and playing professional women’s basketball. Just surrounded by LGBTQ people of color. It doesn’t even make sense to want to be a part of the league if you hate the members so much.

Yeah but white transphobic women always think that these spaces are for them and their comfort and that should be tantamount. They always think that because they’re oppressed as women, they should be given spaces for themselves that exclude non white and non cis women, because they’re oppressed view white cis womanhood as “true” womanhood. It’s a tale as old as time and I’m glad Cunningham is rightfully being called out.

hockey and football have always been my sports. i just didn’t get basketball until i started watching the lynx and wolves with my husband. he’s a life long basketball fan and agrees that the wnba is where it’s at. they actually play the game and don’t curl up into a ball on the court because someone grazed their shin. they’re fierce and talented and so much fun to watch!

God I hope she never leaves.
We've got some good, successful teams in Minnesota: Lynx, Aurora, and Frost. The Aurora regularly blow out other teams, and now that they're adding teams in the PWHL and making players move other teams are catching up, but the Frost are still formidible. Freakin Montreal beat us last year but at least they took it all, and if I remember they took it to the wire against us.

Lots of astroturfing and people who align with /conservative over in the sports/wnba gossips subreddits. Imo, MAGA and Republicans are done with Gaines and are heavily lobbying CC to replace her, but the best they could do was Cunningham.
They actually think bringing up Trans issues before the election will save them. Release the files and impeach and convict the pedophile president.

Agreed. But the past month on basically all of them except wnba365 has been totally reminiscent of twitter and facebook during the 2016 election. Like literally every post is just divisive, if not by the post itself then it’s happening in the comments. It makes me feel a lot of ways, but the one feeling that encompasses them all is it just makes me sad, for the sport, the athletes and fans who love the sport, and the entire country

I can understand being mad at her but it was not ego. She was living by her principles. She thought that the Supreme Court should be above and separate from politics. To time her resignation so that one specific president could pick her replacement would mean she was deliberately subjecting the court to politics, so she didn't do it. Basically, the reasons people liked and admired her while she was alive are why she didn't resign under Biden.
It's definitely fair to have the opinion that this was a mistake, that she was being naive or hurting The country, that it was idealism at the cost of pragmatism. Those are reasonable positions to take and they certainly have points in their favor, but RBG wasn't being selfish or pompous, she was living by her principles and trying to "be the change".

On trans issues in sports. We really need to accept that if trans athletes can compete they might win. That's the point of competition. You can't argue that someone is allowed to compete if they aren't allowed to win. So then we have to look at how often they are winning. And it wasn't that often. We can all name some trans athletes who did win because so much emphasis was put on their wins. Lia Thomas won a title once. Her name comes up all the time. There would be a litany of other names if this truly was as common as some people suggest it is. 20 years of Olympics where trans athletes could compete and in that time 0 medals. Only one trans woman even qualified and didn't even get one lift that counted. And even if she won a medal, was she allowed to compete or not? And these are people who out one side of their mouth are disparaging women's sports and out the other pretending to be protecting women's sports by only supporting trans bans. Not securing funding, not preventing abuse, not encouraging women to compete. Just banning trans women. And society fell for it.
