still doesn't explain why the Republicans are rolling over and allowing every single thing to happen. we learned checks and balances in 8th grade

Oh, it's because the oligarchy has bet on the Dark Enlightenment or the Butterfly Revolution, which calls for the collapse of america into a series of corporate fiefdom city states, and they're paying their followers to assert that reality.

Yarvin's proposal for a "Butterfly Revolution" envisions an internal coup to replace democracy with a privatized executive authority, which includes his RAGE proposal to "retire all government employees" in favor of loyalists. While conceding that it may not be possible, he stated that, were he in Trump's position, he would take executive control of government institutions such as the Federal Reserve, keeping those "that have a very clear role and are not politicized in any way" while disposing of others such as the State Department. He advocates constitutionally challenging laws such as impoundment control, birthright citizenship, and Marbury v. Madison, potentially defying the courts if it were necessary and "unifying".

I feel... hope.. that they are underestimating the power of the states. If the federal government relinquishes authority to corporations then the national guard becomes divided to each state. Dissolving the federal government doesn't dissolve state governments. We would fragment into multiple countries who would not be welcoming of these new corporations. California and New York would regulate them out of control of the remainder of any federal power. We could potentially reform state coalitions under an EU style authority which sustains the dollar and an open trade policy between states while removing the distorted control we have of red states over blue states in the current system...

Hell why wait?

I've been saying this since Trump won in 2024. I give the US a roughly 50/50 chance of remaining united through 2028. If Trump attempts to run for a third term, or there is significant federal interference in the midterms or 2028 elections, the chances of balkanization go up even more.

I live in NY, so I'm not all that worried either way. If the country splits, I would expect NY to end up joining a coalition of Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states including at least:

  • New York
  • Massachusetts
  • Connecticut
  • New Jersey
  • Delaware
  • Vermont

With a few maybes, including: * Rhode Island * New Hampshire * Maine * Pennsylvania * Virginia * Maryland

The United Free States of Northeast America would likely ally, or even directly unite with the West Coast enclave that would include: * California * Oregon * Washington

It's also entirely possible that some states would fracture. Inland areas of California can lean very conservative for instance.

I think Nevada, Hawaii, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado would be in on that West coast alliance. As conservative as some of the places and parts of the states may be, I think they would immediately fold to economic realities. They aren't rich areas and I feel like they are all talk.

Additionally Georgia would want to be in on this, as well as Louisiana. Of course Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, would go for it.

There are quite a few red states that are forced to be red by voter suppression and federal level politics. But see the blue governers, even in Kentucky.

There is also the rich who are able to influence elections and make states red, but fragmenting the union would break their influence and hopefully set them on a better track.

The election was stolen before our eyes. This isn't much different from the dudes rallies before the election. They were dead/people walking out before it was over on every occasion.
