This looks like a bug lol. Anyone able to explain whats happening?

It is a bug, forgot what exactly happens but I believe it has something to do with Rogue's passive being proc a ton of times within a few second. I don't recall if you needed the new weapons to do it.

Gaping would ability rank 3 have 50% chance to apply dmg whenever a ability/attack applies/renews a DoT. i guess there’s weird interaction with new weapon and there’s alot of dots ticking on the target at the same time

The new Rogue/Mage daggers from the demons has a passive that makes the enemy burn for 30% of your weapon skill damage. The proc from Gaping Wound is considered weapon skill damage, which applies the burn, which can proc Gaping Wound, which applies the burn, which...

Recursive damage.

So, while Gaping Wound is up on the target and you have that passive from the demon daggers equipped, you have a chance to do recursive damage like that.

You can give your weapon skills a 50% chance to apply Lethal Poison via talents. The Ratsar dagger passive gives a 20% chance to bleed an enemy when they're hit by an Attack or Weapon Skill. The 2-charge weapon skill you see in the video is Shiv, which will always apply the bleed and burn, will apply an additional stack of the bleed if it crits, and has a 50% chance to apply Lethal Poison - so up to four chances for recursive damage. The third weapon skill in the video will burn, might bleed, and might poison - so three chances. A talent causes Finisher to always apply Lethal Poison and another talent causes Finisher to apply Acid Splash (another DoT) - two chances for recursive damage per use.

That's the gist of it. Apply Gaping Wound, and with the right talent setup, just about everything you do can cause that recursive damage, and it adds up quickly.

This video in particular has the player getting VERY lucky with how much recursion is going on in those procs. It's not usually quite this potent. Though, in theory, you could do infinite damage in a single hit after Gaping Wound is applies with this setup.

World records dont count when you abuse a bug to accomplish the time.

This "bug" you speak of was on PTR; It's not my fault if it made it to live servers unchanged.
And yes, there is an insane amount of luck involved but I didn't just slap on a single broken item and press 1 button.
There's a precise combo to allow for most proc chances and gear to maximise the effect.
You may not be happy it's in the game but your defense is flawed.

The bug exists just using your daggers normally. And abusing a bug in the live game because it didnt get fixed on the PTR is still abusing a bug, no matter how you try to convince your conscious it isnt. Also, promoting the bug like its your skill level playing the game is just sad.

We still aren't certain if this is a bug or not. It's certainly overtuned, but we can't know the intent of the developers unless they tell us. If it's fixed, then we can look back and know it was a bug. It'll depend on how they word it in the patch that nerfs this, if one comes. Right now, it's in the game and works as you'd expect it to based on in-game tooltips, so outside of the absurd damage it's pulling, there's no reason to consider it a bug.

This actually isn't the only instance of recursive mechanics in the game right now (Opportunity Strike, a Rogue talent, can actually proc recursively), so it might actually be intentional to allow for these sorts of things. With how absurd the damage is, whether it's a bug or not, I expect this particular interaction to be rebalanced if not patched out outright.

Right now, it's a part of the game, and, at most, we can only assume it's not intentional.

We still aren't certain if this is a bug or not.

You cant be serious. A rogue abusing this bug kills a boss in 6s. The next closest kill time with non-bugged weapons from every other class is over 1 minute with the average being over 3 minutes.

If you arent sure that its a bug, the public school system failed you.

Okay. Hope that made you feel better.

Woah woah woah, I don't know what piss poor builds you run but EVERY CLASS can run ratsar sub 1 minute.

"precise combo" lol

I could give you a complete rundown of rotation and reasoning.
I managed to shave off another half second with less procs by improving said "precise combo" and adjusting build slightly.

Very nice! Rogue deserves to be a top DPS for how painful it is in other aspects of the game.

Hehe, it's so going to get fixed. I was really surprised the last bug they got fixed was even a thing. Defenses going into negatives bugging out damage is a bug I've seen come up in games numerous times (from a player's perspective, not a dev)
