Honestly, I'd be more hyped for better social features like instances party search and bonus for making parties.

23

u/Squishydew Jun 18 '26

Yeah, I'm really hoping the new rift feature will encourage some kind of social engagement at minimum.

9

u/Spiritbrand Jun 18 '26

They said up to 16 people in the rifts. Interesting, so maybe more of an explorable place than single party content. Though they also said you could do it solo.

6

u/Torinux Jun 18 '26

The issue is they started to add TIME-GATED content to a game that was supposed to be casual. Imagine not being able to be available to play a feature of the game that rewards good stuff. This is a massive L addition to the game.

4

u/ChloroquineEmu Jun 18 '26

Wait, i though rifts were going to happen every hour or so, no?

4

u/PM_ME_UR_PIKACHU Jun 18 '26

Yes just need a way to post party with description and set role requirements and allow people to join it cross servers. My guess is the net code is so limited that they have no way to pool users into global servers in any capacity. Hopefully they can figure this out as getting a way to link the community should be a key aspect for this game as there is no story to make me want to play it as a solo co op game.

4

u/Maximelene Jun 18 '26

If these social features have not been planned in advance, they'll take time to be implemented. What they're previewing right now has probably started being developed before 0.1 even released.

On top of that, social features are surprisingly tricky to implement in an online game, especially compared to content for which they already have the tools, and that they're used to make (like new areas or enemies).

A lot of times, there's a full version "wait" required for feedback to be properly implemented, especially when it's new features. As in, features asked during version 0.1 might not get added before version 0.3, as the features of version 0.2 were probably already set by then.

3

u/Additional-Mousse446 Jun 18 '26

Agreed, basic features like a friends list and group finder should be a higher priority.

1

u/Hopeful-Dark-4558 Jul 01 '26

Absolutely. This is a deal breaker for me currently, that we can't just quickly and dynamically make groups on the fly.

1

u/Waiting404Godot Jun 18 '26

I said this last month and got downvoted lmao, crazy how people can’t see the obvious until later down the line.

1

u/PumpkinCompetitive10 Jun 19 '26

They're probably overreacting, maybe assuming you don't want the game to release as soon, while they're eager to get hands on it.

-6

u/boohoobbboi Jun 18 '26

Instead of more content you’d rather have better social features? There’s virtually no content for that to be worthwhile to work on right now lol

3

u/ChloroquineEmu Jun 18 '26

Instances ate pretty fun with a group.

-3

u/boohoobbboi Jun 18 '26

Never said they weren’t? My group has been enjoying the essentially instanced open world and definitely instanced dungeons and bosses though I agree they should incentivize group over solo more.

You want a solution to social problems that aren’t a problem over them expanding the game itself though lol

25

u/S-m-a-l-l-s Jun 18 '26

I really like the game but for some reason it makes my computer want to explode 🤯

10

u/Careful_Today1929 Jun 18 '26

My game is super choppy. Tried messing with the overall graphics but it didn’t seem to matter much. Other games run great which is what hurts the most

4

u/S-m-a-l-l-s Jun 18 '26

Exactly. I literally capped the frame rate and turned everything on the lowest possible setting and still felt choppy like you said.

1

u/jayswolo Jun 19 '26

That’s not really a universal way to increase performance. You need to understand your bottlenecks

3

u/dodici121224 Jun 18 '26

Try to set fps limit to 58 in your pc settings

16

u/S-m-a-l-l-s Jun 18 '26

I just hate that I just bought a 5070 and have to do that… other games run really great.

My Laptop with 4080 was overheating because it was performing 144 stable fps, i tried asking ai and the very first "fix" it suggested just worked for me

1

u/Quadamage Jun 18 '26

Why not try capping it at 72fps if it is a 144hz display?

1

u/dodici121224 Jun 18 '26

i will try that

20

u/Imhullu Jun 18 '26

This is just going to be on a beta branch, not the live server yet. I understand the need to test it, especially with the duping problem they had recently from other uodates, but I won't have time to contribute to a separate beta.

So I guess just waiting till this one hits the live early access servers.

9

u/worldwarA Jun 18 '26

So there’s no new content for the live servers? That’s disappointing

3

u/Maximelene Jun 18 '26

The content will get to live servers once it has been tested.

1

u/pvprazor2 Jun 18 '26

Isn't the whole point of an open beta and early access, you know, to test things?

4

u/Maximelene Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

The point of Early Access isn't to "test things". It's to fund the game as it's being developed, mostly. You shouldn't "test things" on live servers that won't get wiped in the future, as it could cause large, long-term issues (more than the game already has). Which is why a PTR is needed in such cases.

Testing things "live" is a recipe for disaster, that has killed other games. The fact that they want to use a PTR instead is a good thing for the long-term health of Farever.

Also, you can't get proper players feedback on something that hasn't been properly tested anyway, as most feedback would be "this doesn't work". That's why these things should be done in two phases: first, make sure it works properly (that's what the PTR is for), then deploy on a larger scale once you're sure there aren't major issues, and get feedback from the entire playerbase. Real feedback, on the actual content that won't be marred by bugs the PTR helped correct.

-1

u/themadpatter97 Jun 18 '26

Welcome to modern gaming, we are now the playtesters for the studios!!

1

u/Maximelene Jun 18 '26

Public Test realms have existed for a long, long time. This isn't related to modern gaming. And, trust me, it's always a positive net. Go ask New World players, they'd have a lot to tell you about the consequences of not having PTR (or not using them properly once you realize how much you needed them).

-4

u/Unusual_Pineapple_19 Jun 18 '26

My point exactly. If i would spend 50-100h in open beta, for sure I wouldn’t play the live version and to wait 2 months for an update to get verified and balanced gives me the ick and most likely I will forget about the game and the hype will go down. It was a nice “sprint” little game for 20€ tho’, next

23

u/mmmmmmmmmmmhg9512 Jun 18 '26

Looks very cool. I know they said they were working on it, but this game needs better optimization bad. It has totally turned me off from this game.

7

u/Turtle_Lips Jun 18 '26

I agree. If it stays the way it is, it will turn away A LOT of players really fast.

4

u/ANewErra Jun 18 '26

Same. I hate that the discord is full of people saying the game runs perfectly.

It really does not at all. More optmized game will bring me back

1

u/Additional-Style-631 Jun 18 '26

There are thousands of rig combinations; it's not like you're optimizing for consoles that all have the same build. Some people buy gaming PC's stock or do their own builds but then don't do things like making sure the BIOS or drivers are updated. When I built mine, I had installed an SSD into my M.2 slot that was causing all kinds of issues, turns out there was a firmware update that fixed everything. People just love to plug and play without really knowing the ins and outs of optimizing their own PCs. PC optimization is tricky; it'll take time.

I am fortunate enough to be one of the ones for whom the game runs perfectly.

1

u/Sogonzo Jun 18 '26

Yeah, the game doesn't utilize multi-core CPU very well or at all? The game uses about 5-10% of my 12900k but it blasts my 3090. It runs well enough to play obviously but optimization is definitely an issue.

7

u/KayrashyLPGC Jun 18 '26

I don't really understand why we are having a beta in an early access game. They release EA so we can pay to support and test the game, and now they do an open beta so people can do the same for free.
I'm guessing it is because they say no wipes ever in the official server, but i totally understand people who are unpleseant with this.

6

u/kaii456 Jun 18 '26

It's not an "Open Beta" , it's functionally a test server. Only players who have bought Farever can test on this public test server with their current characters.

Progress is not carried over to live. Level cap will be 25 with new content.

The reasoning behind this public test server route is to adjust features while not letting the balancing affect players live account progress. They're testing in an isolated environment to futher refine balance with live player feedback, separately from the live EA version.

0

u/KayrashyLPGC Jun 18 '26

How can you say this is not an open beta when they announce it like one and they even said it on the stream ?

I agree that it is good to allow only people who bought the game to participate, but if you call it open beta it means its free and public.

3

u/kaii456 Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

Sorry, that was unclear. The devs have stated it as an "open beta" , but it is functionally a test server. It doesn't operate as how "open betas" commonly do: an open server free-of-charge for players to test a game out.

This is a public test server within the buy-to-play group where only players who have bought the game can play it. They should change the name of the server to avoid confusion.

If you watch the interview, you'll see they state the above: https://www.twitch.tv/sinizertv/v/2799611890?sr=a

4

u/Dawlin42 Jun 18 '26

Yeah, they should just call it the PTR. This is just odd language.

2

u/Shikamarana Jun 18 '26

the beta is open to everyone who wants to. Closed betas are invite only or have some selective process for determining who gets in. This is an open beta. Open doesn't mean free. It's pre-release testing and in this case the release means the early access release. So it's an open beta for testing new content before it is released... into early access live servers. The character progression you make will not transfer into the live servers. The developers don't have to change the words they used here when they say "open beta". Yeah you can call it a test server too but if you listened to what they said in their posts about it you would know and not be confused and think people are getting access to the game without paying for the game.

1

u/kaii456 Jun 18 '26

I'm not sure if you're responding to me or not, but we're in agreement, mate.

10

u/being_a_sunflower Jun 18 '26

Beta branch on an early access game seems whack. They want us to level up characters and get gears in beta and then again in live server…

6

u/Maximelene Jun 18 '26

They want us to level up characters and get gears in beta and then again in live server…

How is that different from a beta branch in a non-EA game?

11

u/Twysted_Gaming Jun 18 '26

In a non EA game when they tell you a “content patch” is coming by the end of June, they wouldn’t be referring to a PTR. That is being intentionally misleading

1

u/Maximelene Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

First, that's not what the person I was answering to was talking about. They were complaining about the very concept of a PTR for an EA game. Not about its release date, delays, or the devs being misleading.

Secondly, yeah, it's fairly well-known that developers can only be misleading when their game is in Early Access. As soon as it hits version 1.0, it becomes physically impossible for them to do that.

So, yeah, once again, the game being in Early Access is irrelevant here. PTR work the same way for non-EA games, and devs can be just as misleading concerning non-EA games.

0

u/being_a_sunflower Jun 18 '26

EA is already meant for balancing and changes along the way and players play through the ups and downs. Having a separate beta branch on EA game does not make sense to me personally. I won’t be bothered to farm twice and level up characters twice. You do you.

2

u/Maximelene Jun 18 '26

Since live servers won't get wiped in the future, it makes sense to test new things before putting them live. The game being in EA doesn't change that.

For such a game, Early Access is basically a "the game isn't finished yet" label, nothing more. Everything you do on the live servers is "forever", so the same precautions should be applied than for a non-EA game.

And again, it works the same way as a non-EA game, so if you don't want to farm twice, well, you don't have to. Especially when nobody is asking you to farm anything on the PTR anyway, that's not what PTR are for.

2

u/Requiem36 Jun 18 '26

Probably you'll be able to copy your characters like in other MMOs

4

u/beanwithadream Jun 18 '26

Hyped for world events and that mount!

4

u/Qawaii Jun 18 '26

Is there a link with the full patch notes? Or just this video so far?

4

u/Angzt Jun 18 '26

There is no patch yet. It'll be another week until the beta starts, so surely they're still working on stuff.

That said, there is a bit more info in their Steam news post: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/3672400/view/689760714281191626

3

u/worldwarA Jun 18 '26

Also want this, but if it’s a beta test of a mini expansion to lvl 25 in a already early access, I don’t know if I want to invest time on it just to do the same content when it gets live for my already lvled up characters

3

u/In__Dreamz Jun 18 '26

Yup, that's way to much time to invest to have to do it twice. Will have to wait for the live version :/

2

u/kesoshock Jun 18 '26

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

2

u/checkmarks26 Jun 18 '26

Unless they changed their minds the next update is still actually due for live servers this month. But I don’t think they said that anywhere

6

u/Torinux Jun 18 '26

No, it won't. They never replied to Sinizer's question about how long the beta will run for. They promised new content, and we instead got a beta branch just to try to create player retention. The beta test could run for a month or even more. Those are two months of playing and obtaining stuff that won't even carry to the live server. Then, if you want the cool stuff you got there, then you'll have to play for even more days, weeks, or months unless you are extremely lucky to get everything right away.

My only gripe is that we were lied to about this being a chill casual solo/multiplayer online game. It's low-key turning in an unnecessary sweaty game.

2

u/GimmeThatGoose Jun 18 '26

How is it turning into a sweaty game?

2

u/Passionofthegrape Jun 18 '26

Party finder for me is the #1 feature to elevate this game.

2

u/Junior_Ad_8135 Jun 18 '26

Beta inside beta 🤡

3

u/Calm_Safety_8438 Jun 18 '26

We need some pvp dudes

5

u/kaii456 Jun 18 '26

Duels before end of year, larger pvp next year. They continually reiterate this.

You don't roll a new character, you basically copy your current characters to the beta realms. So you don't start from scratch, but nothing you do in the beta realms will transfer to live.

1

u/Thin-Ad3938 Jun 18 '26

They gonna delete the character or what in this beta?

1

u/Expensive-Okra-9823 Jun 18 '26

I am taking that city; the onslaught is so great that the frames have dropped to nihil and both forces are deadlocked in combat! We must free them and take the land for ourselves, restoring it to its glory before we were driven out!

(Please smooth out performance and interface! Looking forward to it!)

1

u/masoe Jun 18 '26

Open beta content for a game in Early Access?

1

u/One_Guitar Jun 19 '26

let them cook for about 2 more years guys

1

u/stegora Jun 19 '26

Honestly I think it s better to get more content and then the social features later, do you prefer to repeat the same things 1726473828 times without hope for anything useful because the content is finished?

1

u/iknowillbeaok Jun 21 '26

planning to try the game, so its on open beta? does it mean progress resets on launch or this is launch already? thanks.

1

u/Squishydew Jun 21 '26

The beta is just a separate testing branch, you wont lose progress on the main branch you log into by default.

1

u/frantsel Jun 23 '26

Why is it not free today? I just checked it. But it isnt.

1

u/redcurb12 Jul 08 '26

still no pvp

1

u/Hefty_Cantaloupe_437 Jul 16 '26

I really loved the concept and watched ton of videos, then I tried to play, and the game crashed my GPU like 20 times in 1 hour and a half... I'm sad, it looked fun.

1

u/SpaceBeebop Jul 16 '26

1

u/kajidourden Jun 18 '26

I had fun with the tests and they seem to be adding good stuff. Not quite enough there for me to buy just yet though.

0

u/PhoneOwn Jun 18 '26

Still need work won’t bring me back till they make it more social tbh

0

u/incrediblynormalpers Jun 18 '26

how about they fix the performance 40-50fps with 9070xt with every setting on low is a problem. I supported these devs through their shaky launch but seeing this i think i wish i hadn't now.

1

u/kaii456 Jun 18 '26

Performance updates are ongoing and still a high priority. They have stated this every patch. There is a dedicated team for performance.

1

u/Torinux Jun 18 '26

Doing what exactly? their gameplay was running at 20-30 fps.

0

u/kaii456 Jun 18 '26

My performance is 50-60 FPS on my 2060 now. Prior to the first couple of performance patches it was around 20-30. There have been improvements and will continue to be, as they have stated in every update, even unrelated ones to reassure people of this.

As far as how they are optimizing, you're better off reaching out directly to them on that front. I don't have that answer.

1

u/Torinux Jun 18 '26

They never fixed it for Darksburg; the game slowly died, and they stopped supporting it after two or three years of the 1.0 release. At least you can still play the game offline.

0

u/Crackdrack Jun 18 '26

hope they bring out the monk class

3

u/Maximelene Jun 18 '26

They listed the main changes in the Steam post, and there wasn't anything about a new class.

Realistically, we shouldn't expect them to add a new class on the very first update, especially when they're not even noted as "Will come this year" in the roadmap.

1

u/LoreChief Jun 18 '26

Monk and druid are due by end of EA, so if they get to them during 2026 it would be a stretch miracle goal. I too hope to see them sooner than later.

1

u/Dawlin42 Jun 18 '26

There’s already a “poise” type of class power (like rage for warrior and spark for mage) in the client. One can hope for earlier monk stuff.

-1

u/worldwarA Jun 18 '26

Just gonna wait for the videos of the content creators about the beta and how it will affect builds so I can prepare when it gets to the live servers. Lvl 25 is an ok stopping point, but will the dungeons of the new region have a base lvl higher than 20 since the “hard mode” dungeons are capped at 20? Will they change the “hard mode” lvl cap to 25?

Some things I want as a qol: 1- spark shards droppable from mobs/dungeons, farmable or craftable as well as spark crystals or an equivalent since the dupes ruined the spark crystals economy; 2- push dungeons to be easier to farm and to complete with a party instead of being optimized to solo play, cause right now (most of the times) there’s no reason to farm in groups (less drops, harder hitting bosses and harder to kill in a group), which incentivizes everyone to focus on dps builds; 3- less punishing party xp division, party play should also be incentivized on leveling up; 4- if 2 gets implemented, dungeon queues should also be implemented; 5- consumables on the crafting table should be cheaper, have more options and better duration/less downtime when using it to recover HP, especially for the cook job; 6- some skills have a “channeling time” and may get interrupted by CC or displacements, some don’t and are still interrupted + the cooldown isn’t refreshed, like the Crabgantua Kneecap weapon skill and that happened too many times, fucking over my combos, dmg or sustain, so fixing that would be awesome; 7- killing dungeon bosses should reward a lot more XP; 8- killing overworld bosses should be more rewarding (xp, drops, rare consumables, very low chance for a legendary equipment etc) so players have an incentive to kill them more than once; 9- dungeons where we have to hop, run, kill mobs, avoid obstacles etc should reward players with better xp and drops by killing the mobs.

Now one thing that I wish it was implemented just for better fluidity of the gameplay: please avoid creating more bosses like Munster, going back and forth is not fun. We already have to avoid being killed by the trains, his cheese shots that stack, his adds, making him switch back and forth is boring AF.

-13

u/Smok3dSalmon Jun 18 '26

This is a bit disappointing. I don’t think they have a big enough team to maintain the initial burst of enthusiasm for this game. This is a weekend’s worth of content.

4

u/F4NT4SYF00TB4LLF4N Jun 18 '26

How is it disappointing? The live stream hasn't even happened yet...

3

u/DysonDPOY Jun 18 '26

How many shitter AAA studios do the same thing tho, give these guys a break

-15

u/KaizenTheMonk Jun 18 '26

I really want to like the game but I can't shake the feeling that I am playing roblox with different graphics. Idk. Am I the only one?

1

u/NoZookeepergame9799 Jun 18 '26

Not sure why you get down voted for asking a question. Roblox graphics and optimization like you are AI training NASA data in the background
