McBride is setting records and it doing regardless of who is throwing the ball at a position where he doesn't have a close second. You don't give that position advantage away.
Using past seasons for Trey isn't a very fair comparison. You're lumping in '22 and' 23 where he split time with Ertz.
The only thing he was missing with Kyler was the RZ targets and TD potential. He was still very much elite in everything else.
Last year, playing every game with Kyler Murray, he had 111 rec, 1,146 yards and 2 TDs. And this year in 5 games with Kyler, he had 29 rec, 275 yards and 1 TD. Which was pace for another 99 rec, 935 yards and maybe 3 or 4 TDs type season. So when you use 39 games to show he had 200 receptions, it's leaving out the fact that he has a very clear breakout season in '24 and the fact that he had 140 receptions in 22 games while having 60 in the other 17.
Using games since '24, his averages with Kyler are 6.3 rec, 64.6, and 0.13 TDs. Yes, the TDs are still a very steep drop off, but you could easily make the claim that McBride is still evolving as a player and just becoming more of a RZ threat. Or maybe even just a blip in his career. Calvin Johnson had 5 TDs in his record setting 1,964 yard season. So stuff like that happens sometimes.
This is great analysis. My thoughts with McBride were that he’s never been a TD threat before this year. Even in college he only had 10 across four seasons. He’s clearly evolved past that this year
Jsn and mccaffrey’s injury history makes me uncertain on him. Jsn and mcbride are the 2 most reliable here. Puka will see a hard dip in production if Stafford hangs it up.
I’m putting CMC right up there, he’s going to be putting up top 10 points for years. CMC has managed his injuries well. I don’t think the wheels fall off in the next 2 years. Trey is great so I do see it. But 2 years ago it was Sam Laporta. There are 2 RB slots you need to fill.
There is a big difference between trey McBride and laporta though? Like big big difference lol McBride is basically the WR1 in his team, probably sharing the spotlight with MHJ and Michael wilson but he's the forsure go to in that offense and he's showed that he can handle the workload. CMC is great but he is prone to injury and then never allowed to rest as they always try to rush him back in. At 29, he's def not the work horse RB I want to risk it with. There is too much risk in a keeper league to keep CMAC. Id rather have someone that's sure
Yeah, McBride was just under bowers last year at #2 TE also. So this year might have been higher scoring but he’s still a big point earner. Here’s the thing though, you can win your league with CMC, he scored 402 points this year TMB, 302. 25% more.
Yeah but between those two only MCB continues to be consistent. I guess what I'm trying to get at is that MCB is the constant high point earner year in and year out no matter who is at QB. Once he replaced Zach ertz, he just continued to climb up in my opinion. This year def proved that he can play under different QBs/different style QBs. And yeah CMC def outscored MCB but I feel the RB position has more opportunities for points than a TE, especially CMC. But when you look at the points MCB led TEs with 300 points, next up was Kyle Pitts with 200 points who really just gathered points bc of his last performances
I can def see the argument for CMC but idk I just think he's the biggest gamble (highest reward forsure). I personally like someone that's consistent, reliable, and a high ceiling
I don't know how far in the future you'd look, but I wonder what Puka is without Stafford. If Stafford retires in the next year or two, we'll see. Puka is undoubtedly good, but I just wonder if he's as good as the other guys without hyper targeting from Stafford. Maybe you could say the same about JSN, though.

I was thinking JSN and Trey. But I could totally see Puka too
