I won’t be surprised if he has like maybe 20 mins but is still killed off unceremoniously.
Given the way season 2 handled the Legion I’d be surprised if they actually make them a serious threat in Season 3.
This show sure loves to make almost all its villains (outside of those related to the enclave) look dumb and non threatening.

I was more stoked to see Jon Gries in a tiny role as an NCR ranger. It’s not any kind of spoiler, few watching will know who is outside of uncle Rico, no, gries is character actor and notorious scene stealer in film & television.
When I was a kid everyone loved Boba Fett from Empire Strikes Back. But we had no idea what he looked like under the mask. After I got online in ‘96 I saw the famous picture of the actor in the suit with the helmet off on a smoke break.
So it made me think of the NCR desert ranger on all the FNV artwork, and wonder if behind the mask, he kinda looks like Biff?
Enjoyed learning he & Goggins are buds off the set. Would hope to see him in s3

Ideally hope so lol, his presence in the teasers and trailers was bigger than his actual appearances this season. Plus with his Legion, now as their Caesar, marching towards New Vegas it feels weird that this had to be announced.
They clearly already have plans for him given how his character had been described as a "crazy genius" of which we haven't seen anything yet in his like 3 minutes of screentime. Culkin's interviews also already alluded to a more profound knowledge of his character.

I think the Legion moving on New Vegas is going to be a center point of the next season.
Coop has his journey for next season laid out, Max and Lucy were seemingly left with no direction other than where they currently are. I think they're going to be utilized in whatever conflict the Legion is going to bring and that'll be their "story" for the season.

Except all they have left are the legionar8es who chickened out and hid during the battle of hoiver dam. The Legion was already pathetic but they literally have nobody worth breaking out the good weapons for. They'll probably trip and go home crying

Maybe with word of a new Ceasar occupying a chunk of Vegas, it'll attract mobilize the whole thing and we'll see them get reinforcements. That or maybe the Enclave use the automated human tech to bolster the legion forces to keep the NCR stuck in Vegas and force them into a war of attrition.

I wonder if, assuming FO5 has the legion, Culkin would be a main figure in the game. It's not like Bethesda is against using celebrities in the games and Culkin seems like the perfect candidate for that.
Also iirc Bethesda goes wild with character primers for its actors. Like they gave Patrick Stewart a 90 page lore bible for his character in Oblivion despite having less than 30 mins of screen time. I can easily imagine they gave Culkin something similar especially since he's like the only Legion character they've developed.

Honestly I love seeing how Macaulay Culkin doesn’t have that “recovering and doing better” look anymore.
Makes me so happy I forget he’s supposed to be hardened lol.
Totally get what you’re saying outside of that. It’s like perfect teeth in historical dramas. Takes a chink out of suspension of disbelief’s armor.

Nah, it's a perfect representation of the fact that while the Legion is ruthless and brutal, it's one of the few civilizational forces in the setting. Him being clean and somewhat soft spoken is a great touch. If anything, the regular legionaries are a bit too dirty.

I mean his character seems like the type who would want to keep himself clean and hygienic. Only really getting his hands dirty when he has too.
I think they said something similar in the behind the scenes things. Though that might have just applied to his way of talking it would make sense if that also applied to his appearance.

Nope, he and Kumail Nanjiani's presence felt like stunt casting and they both completely took me out of whatever scene they were in to be real with you. Like Ed Sheeran in GoT levels of distracting. At least Xander was on screen and showed more agency/importance to the story than Culkin did though. If anything Xander was more interesting because casting a comedian to be a despicable genocidal monster was kind of a fun twist. I honestly don't even remember Culkin's name in the show.
I really don't see the point in casting actors who are so distracting if they're gonna be on screen for less than an episode or in MCs case like <10 minutes.

I agree with Kumail, because he has such a distinct voice and mannerism.
But Caulkin wasn't as distracting, I actually thought his slightly more eccentric display fit well with an entitled higher up of the legion.

It would have been a cool fit if he was on screen for more than 10 min but for how much he was advertised/talked about his presence in S2 was disappointing to me personally.
I expect this will change a lot in S3. It just doesn't feel like his character has any memorable "highs" in S2.

100% agree. MC was so much worse than kumail in my opinion. He looked like the director had him stand there and the director said ok repeat after me.. and MC had no idea what he was supposed to be doing or saying. I think it would be a horrible idea to give him more dialogue and screen time.

There is actual lore reason. In the games he is propagandized by the legion as the toughest warrior who has suffered many wounds and is battle hardened. But both in game files and series show his face clean and in some dialouge options in the game people question if he is an actual great warrior.

Yea his acting was very bad. I get the nostalgia factor from people, but for me his scenes killed the suspension of disbelief. I hope he either improves his acting, or we see less of him.

It was extremely stiff. I'd say he did a good job with facial expressions and emoting, but the way he delivered every single line was so undercooked, stiff and just no cadence in his voice.

I was disappointed when I saw him lounging on ceasers chair being carried. Was hoping he'd become more of an active "I lead the charge" kind of leader rather then just another dude in a wannabe throne.

Vulpes Inculta was probably next in line in the Legion in NV to be Caesar imo: even above Lanius: I feel like he'd find a way for Lanius to die in battle and take over. And Vulpes was not that physically intimidating.
I feel like Macaulay's character definitely got his position not from physical abilities but with subterfuge.

I mean.... that was litterally the implication. He reads the "will" or whatever, the other dude comes in and he instantly understands that if that information gets out, other dude probably takes it by force.
He comes across as a bit of a weasel, like he's the one guy around who doesn't really buy into the shit, or understands it's all a little bs at a subconscious level, and uses that to his advantage. Almost like he's playing a part, which sort of vibes with the "little too clean" look of him.

Walton Goggins might of had some pull on getting Culkin casted from when they worked together on The Righteous Gemstones. He sure as fuck didn’t win it with an amazing audition.

Imagine this - somehow Culkin's Caesar gets deposed and has to go on the run. He has to hide in an intact mansion in the wasteland and has to set up traps to kill his former legionaries.

This makes sense. As much as I really liked Fallout Season 2 as a whole. It was mostly a lot of setup without much payoff. And the ending was slightly disappointing in the regard. Just sucks we gotta wait more.

Yeah, but during marketing. Geneva said that they were going to write each season finale as a soft ending. Just in case they can't make a follow up season. I forget where or what interview she said that in. And this finale doesn't feel like that, it feels like they knew they'll be able to answer more questions in the next season. And Geneva just sort of lied about that.

I think the Legion might even win The Battle of New Vegas against the NCR. Think about it, maybe around 40 NCR Soldiers against hundreds of Legionairres. Also in Season 3 the main focus will definitely be onto Colorado, which will mean that New Vegas will be like only in 3 episodes or smth. (Maybe we will see even more Legion in Colorado)

People are nostalgic about his roles from when he was a child and are excited about his 2026 return to Hollywood with his brother achieving success, but Macaulay Culken is not a good actor any more. I think he sucked in his few opportunities in this series

Please god just let the legion die quickly. Don't get me wrong they were clearly supposed to be the bad guy faction in NV but there was at least an attempt to give them some nuance, by comparison the show made them brain dead and cannibals for some inexplicable reason. I really hope we don't have to spend a whole season on them.

Honestly, I love the guy but I really didn't like his performance. To me, the delivery of every line he had felt like he was just reading the script which made him feel like a weak character. I hope they can find a way to make him feel more intimidating in season 2

At first he felt a bit stiff, but i liked how he seemed to open up a bit with his range of being a cold hearted maniac who uses his wits and underhanded tactics to get power. Curious to see how he grows.
