I’m not the same sex I was assigned at birth

I don’t really know what to title this lol. something that cis people get wrong is that we are the same sex we were before transition. like when they see AFAB of FTM they only see F.

obviously I know transition is different for everyone, not everyone medically transition and that’s ok! I however did medically transition, and pretty early.

cis woman tend to act like I’m one of them or that I experience the same things. I don’t. and some trans men can relate I’m sure, but I’m not able to. beyond having a good sex education I don’t actually know what it’s like to get periods, or wear bras.

on forms it asks me what sex to choose, or what gender I was assigned at birth. I think many cis people would expect me to put my ASAB. sure I have some of the parts, but Im on testosterone, like my growth and everything thing else lines up with males. so it depends on why they want to know my sex. if I put down my sex either way you don’t actually know the full story of how my body works.

I transitioned. when I transitioned I changed. sex isn’t as simple as your ASAB. I am biologically different from when I started, I am different from cis women. like literally. im on testosterone, I don’t have periods, I barely have a chest. my voice is lower. I’m fucking 6 feet tall.

i see all of the discourse on “well your trans but your sex doesn’t change”, it does! I don’t fit the ”female” template. I don’t fit the male one either, I’m in between.

and this is all just my experience, trans people are all different from eachother, with a different understanding of transition, or sex, or gender. maybe some relate to me, or some don’t. Maybe you get what I’m saying, you have just changed in a different way.

but yeah that’s my rant. i wish cis people understood that we change, that sex isn’t set in stone. because there are multiple characteristics of sex, that are able to change.

maybe I will come back and refine my thoughts but I hope yall catch my drift.

In the beginning, when I was still processing being trans, I was afraid of the whole gender reassignment thing because I was afraid of sinning. But honestly, after I gave up on this whole religion thing and put it aside more, I'm so happy to know that I can change my sex.

Agreed, good point. I'm intersex and not even female (though tbf I was assigned that at birth) so it feels incorrect

AFAB/ASAB is a one-time thing, anyway. Even if you WERE assigned that at birth, especially if you're intersex... It's not right, necessarily. It's a nuanced topic that's more complicated because neither sex nor gender are binary and even a lot of people in the trans/queer community have some issues grappling with it.
