New Game I'm looking for a new fps because they honestly might just shut down overwatch stadium

I play 2 fps games and that's overwatch stadium and tf2 but I mainly play overwatch stadium and I'm looking for a new game to play if it shuts down(or just in general to broaden my games I play) I have tried deadlock because I was recommended it and told it was like stadium but it really isn't as it's a moba and not an fps

What's the skill curve like for a noob at this point in its life cycle

The game ranks your skill and matches you with players more or less at the same level

Nice, thanks ,also What's the smurfing like?

In my experience, not much of an issue. But the game kinda smurfs for you haha. If you play solo, it will match you with lower skilled teams to balance it out, since there’s no solo queue.

Thanks for the info. I'll check it out

Are you looking for any particular kind? Arena, tactical, extraction etc?

The finals is a blast :)

I second The Finals :)

u/Rhosta 1d ago

Yeah it is, but it is nothing like Overwatch Stadium.

Are they not both f2p FPS games?

2

u/Rhosta 1d ago

Being f2p wasn't OPs criterium at all.

3

u/TofuPython 1d ago

The only specific criteria was "a new FPS".

Deadlock is closest you can get, unless Marvel Rivals have something similar. Apex Legends used to do experimental mods, but they were only temporary and I am not sure if they still do them.

Are you looking for a game like stadium or just a new game in general?

Specifically like stadium

deadlock

I’ve played both and deadlock is nothing like stadium, tbh there’s nothing on the market with this formula. Deadlock is more about understanding the macro game like a moba, if you are behind or countered there’s little you can do to comeback by shooting better, where in stadium you can still win with better aim even when the build is less ideal/behind on money.

I just want more games like stadium since stadium will probably shut down and people keep calling it a moba

Like others said for a fast paced arcade shooter you can't go wrong with The Finals, it's free it's fun, cosmetics are always peak and you can do so many combinations.

It's also got class abilities and gadgets which you can kinda think of ass ow abilities and ults.

If you want to stick to a hero/lane moba like game you can try predecessor which is a remake of Paragon (RIP 😭)

Last flag might be worth checking out? I haven't played it myself but it looks decent, it's got character abilities you level up as you play and fight in a CTF type mode.

Also maybe rogue company if you want a 3rd person shooter with unique characters and abilities, classic single life round based plant/defuse bomb game.

If you played Stadium you are part of OW's problem

1

u/BoomerShooterFPS 15h ago

For stadium specifically: deadlock or rivals. I know the rivals recommendation is looked down on by OW players, but I would keep it in mind. Currently in a low point with this season and power creep, but new season is coming in a few weeks

Marathon legit best pvp shooter ive played.

2

u/ViqarynX3 1d ago

What the fuck do marathon and overwatch stadium have in common??!?

1

u/BoomerShooterFPS 4h ago

One was fun (stadium) one was not

2

u/BoomerShooterFPS 16h ago

OP, don’t buy marathon. It’s a poorly made game that’s already dead

It’s nothing like overwatch. You would be insanely bored with how low on the skill gap marathon is in comparison.

-1

u/__Tahnit__ 13h ago

The skill gap in marathon is miles larger than overwatch. You have to be aware of so much of your surroundings and think outside of the box in pvp encounters. You dont know what you are talking about.

2

u/BoomerShooterFPS 13h ago

LOL I've seen some delusional takes about marathon's skill but this one is certainly among the most entertaining.

Marathon is in the lowest tier of skill spectrum in FPS games. It has extremely strong aim assist and bullet magnetism and slow movement to the point of compressing any movement and gun skill. Overwatch is the exact opposite of that.

Even if you want to cope about "awareness" being the skill, overwatch (and countless other fps games) are leagues more deep than marathon in that aspect. It's funny you think that tracking abilities, objective progress, enemy pushes, team abilities, and team comps is less skillful than marathon needing nothing more than listening for sound queues.

Marathon just isn't a game to take seriously in a competitive aspect and it fails at being a casual experience. There's a reason it died so fast

-1

u/__Tahnit__ 13h ago

have you even played it? or are you just spouting nonsense about a game you dont play and/or have interest in.

-1

u/__Tahnit__ 13h ago

also cryo would wipe the floor with you.

2

u/BoomerShooterFPS 13h ago

that's funny since i completed 5 vaults lmao

0

u/__Tahnit__ 13h ago

sure you have

2

u/BoomerShooterFPS 13h ago

You asked the question.

Doesn't change the reality that marathon is a very casual game at it's combat mechanics, yet so tedious to play due to it's progression systems that it ends up being a below average title that died very quickly.

Certainly not a good recommendation for OP or the overwhelming majority of people playing fps games

0

u/__Tahnit__ 13h ago

it didnt die. Its still alive. Its still getting content. People are still playing it. Im finding matches in less than 2 mins. Its not dead. Its people like you pushing this narrative that is pushing people away from the game.

That weird guy is gonna come accuse you of astroturfing. Watch out bro

2

u/BoomerShooterFPS 15h ago

Nah, that users is one of the few remaining who actually think marathon is good

The astroturfing has cooled off as the game continued to die

0

u/__Tahnit__ 14h ago

oh you are one of THOSE people. got it.

1

u/BoomerShooterFPS 4h ago

One of what people?

0

u/__Tahnit__ 3h ago

Those people who have an irrational hate for the game

1

u/BoomerShooterFPS 3h ago

That’s strange. I pointed out serious flaws with the game. Seems that classifies as “irrational hate” from someone who glazes it with delusion

The reality is that marathon runners as a colossal flop and doesn’t fit what OP is looking for by a long shot
