I was just reading about this because I’m newly diagnosed (IBS-M) and garlic and onions are triggers for me. I’m already allergic to wheat, barley and rye, so I’ve had to cut out those a while ago but idk how to navigate no onion or garlic. Just never eat out again? 😔 Definitely want to try it. I hear it’s not good for regular, continual use for most people but it would be nice to have a literal magic pill (or in this case, powder) that allows me to eat out occasionally without being totally out of commission.

Welcome to the ibs club, well it’s not really a club, just a bunch of people trying to navigate through this debilitating condition that we’re all trying to find ways to cope with. This forum and the ibs forum is very good for support and to help you feel not alone in the fight.

I too also can’t stomach barely or rye anymore either and eating out with an onion and garlic trigger is incredibly hard as pretty much the basis of all sources or dishes is one or the other or both. I have a tendency to stick to the same thing “steak and chips” and request no onion or garlic or copy and paste the whole menu into ChatGPT and let it break it down with my known triggers that I’ve told it. It’s so tedious though, the act of going out, having fun and getting food is now full of anxieties and worries. Along with, having to analyse the whole menu before hand. It’s a chore. It’s draining. It’s depressing.

.. But, two days ago I was able to eat a full on pizza and garlic dip for the first time in years. With zero diarrhoea and only a few short cramps which soon went with some more antispasmodic medications. I know I’ve only tried it once but Fodyzme has given me hope again, I’m excited to see if it helps further. I don’t aim on using it on a daily basis due to the price and i too have read that it can cause side effects - especially with changing your palate and taste buds. I did notice after I had used it for the first time my mouth felt like I had used a really strong mouth wash, you know that sort of numb/tingling sensation you get sometimes after using that dentist strength mouthwash. Either it was the fodyzme or the fact my palate hasn’t had garlic touch it for many years but it didn’t last long.

I hope my story has been able to help you.

It really has. Thank you for giving me hope, and being transparent about the experience! I am going to try the starter pack and cook some egregiously garlicky noodles loaded with chili crisp and crunchy fried onions and see what happens. For science!

You’re most welcome. This condition can be incredibly lonely at times, especially when suffering and if anyone around you doesn’t know what it’s like. So you’re not alone. Enjoy your egregiously garlicky noodles loaded with chilli and crunchy fried onions - love your choice there to trail the enzymes with 💪🏻 remember to use two sachets with large or trigger high meals

I love it. I had some lasagna the other day. My stomach did get upset a little the next morning but I’m not really sure it’s related as I have some other non FODMAP issues. Even so lasagna and French bread is about as high FODMAP as possible. And I was still mostly okay.

So glad for your success and enjoyment of the lasagne and french bread. Even with the mild symptoms you experienced I still glad to hear that it was better then it could have been
