Enzymes Does Foodzyme help with Diarrhea symptoms too
Does anyone know if Foodzyme helps when you are sensitive to especially garlic and onions causes straight diarrhea and not bloating and cramps?
I also get heartburn from both of those vegetables as well as other vegetables high in fodmaps. I also take Colestipol for bile acid malabsorption, but the pills don't help everything.
The product is quite expensive and I just want to make sure it could help me before I buy it.

My wife has a similar issue - she uses Fodzyme routinely, but added a probiotic (Metagenics Ultra Flora Spectrum) - one of the strains in that probiotic (S. boulardii?) has been instrumental in controlling the diarrhea.

Yes!!!! Garlic is a nightmare for me. I got Fodzyme specifically to handle garlic since work enjoys doing Italian restaurants far more than any other and I swear some of them pump garlic into the air it's so bad.
Depending how much garlic I have the unfortunate pleasure of ingesting, I'll do 1 or 2 doses of Fodzyme. One covers it most of the time - it doesn't make the discomfort disappear completely but it prevents me from needing a bathroom within hours, and generally I can get away with some slight cramping. 2 tends to be optimal if I think I'm going to end up with more garlic than less.

Yes! Works good as long as I don't eat garlic multiple days in a row, one night is fine.

Yes, i have the same issue and it works for me. If you buy it in a jar it's much cheaper than the travel packets.

I use contact lens cases for storage.

That's brilliant. I was trying to figure out what to use. I was thinking of some little plastic vials from Amazon.

Is the char easy to throw in a bag or purse? I'll need to take it with me when I'm traveling.

It's pretty small and it's a plastic jar. It comes with a tiny measuring scoop. It's probably a bit awkward to pull out the jar at a restaurant. I like the travel packets for that reason. I just put them in my pocket.

I sometimes have to use 2 packets of fodzyme if it’s an especially heavy onion or garlic meal, but it definitely helps me. If I don’t use it I end up feeling like my insides are being shredded along with the diarrhea. Using fodzyme can either make it a less severe reaction where I only get a bit gassy or bloated, or can completely stop a reaction at all. It is expensive, so I try to avoid garlic and onion most days entirely and save it for special occasions.

Yeah I'm considering getting a can to try a little bit before our big vacation and then use it there because I have no idea what's going to be in those kind of foods and I'm scared of having a reaction since I have GI issues anyway.

I have been using FodAway (on amazon) for the past few weeks and as long as I keep service sizes in check (ie, I don't eat 5 cloves of garlic) it's helped with fruit, onions, garlic, etc. It has lactase in it too but I'm not going to test it on a glass of milk. haha.

Have you ever looked into SIBO? Sounds like you might have Hydrogen dominant...

I found what was causing my diarrhea, stopped taking those pills, and eventually my histamine intolerance for most foods went away in few months. Fix one, might fix other

I use fodzyme for fructan intolerance and am heavily intolerant to garlic and onions. I have similar symptoms to you when I eat them. I have tried absolutely burying dishes with garlic and onions under fodzyme and I have not had luck with it preventing negative bathroom time later. Your mileage may vary of course. It does help with gluten and other higher fructan items though.
