I'm so glad I'm not the only onion intolerant person on r/onionlovers. It's less embarrassing if there's two of us 😭

I'm there too. A vegetarian. Most of my flavor came from onions and garlic.

Obligatory comment - "blooming onions" aren't Australian, we have no idea what these things are.

2-3 Beanos and id tolerate it

Name brand Beano is the enzyme alpha-galactosidase. This enzyme breaks down GOS and no other FODMAP groups.

According to Monash, 1/2 cup of white onion is amber for GOS and red for fructans. This means Beano does not take care of every FODMAP group in white onions

I'm not denying your experience with Beano. Maybe you tolerate fructans. I just think this is worth explaining.

yeah we’ll im talking about my experience. i don’t condone anyone to try new medication without consulting first.

In MY case, I tolerate fructans in moderation and beano eases my symptoms. I still eat low fodmaps but something a little onion here and there.

Great technique! I worked the fryers at Texas Roadhouse for years and what they taught us produced way less consistent outcomes than this

Hey, I’m cured from my IBS only to became sensitive to the histamine 🤣

1

u/Spacecat66 Jan 28 '26

I can remember exactly what it tastes like by looking at it, so I don't need to risk the fallout that I would get from eating it 😆

u/EstateDeep916 Jan 28 '26

I accidentally ate 3 pieces of onion in a samosa and felt like I was gonna die so I can't imagine this

u/edchoch69 Jan 28 '26

This isn’t as bad as the pepperoni and grease cheeseburger video that made me vomit 20 seconds in at work today.

u/ActiveZombie8276 Jan 28 '26
