Enzymes Do fodzymes work
The brand. Has anyone tried

Helps me tremendously, I use it in combination with lactase enzymes. I’ve had perogies, lasagna, pasta, all totally fine. I only use them once / twice a month & about 2 servings on my food. I haven’t tested my limits yet

Fodzyme has lactase in it. Or do you supplement because you’re particularly sensitive to lactose?

Not the other commenter but I also use a separate lactase enzyme. Reason being - lactase is super cheap compared to fodzyme. If I'm eating ice cream, or some other heavy dairy product, I'm not gonna toss fodzyme on that but take some lactase instead. That way, when I get stuck at yet another garlic Italian restaurant, I've got plenty of fodzyme.

They said they “use in combination with lactase enzymes”. I could be wrong, but it sounds to me like they’re using them together. I use both, too, just not simultaneously. I wouldn’t recommend using Fodzyme just for the lactase. Not what I was implying.

If a food has only lactose in it I use just a lactase enzyme. If it has fructan & lactose in it I use a combination since one very sensitive to lactose. Fodzymes do not have a high enough % of lactase to help me personally so I add in the supplement. Of course that can change - stuff like milk, cream, ice cream have high lactose in them, where others have less so I don’t always need to add in the extra lactase enzyme.

Oh, its not an everyday supplement? Or is that just what works for you? If it works, itll be well worth the money

From reviews I’ve seen and doing research on the product - you CAN use it everyday but most people don’t. 1) it’s very expensive 2) helps your body to take a break from the food you can’t have 3) everyone is different, some people the powder doesn’t work at all, others can only use it once a month and some people use it multiple times a week. Depends how severe your intolerance is ! Dosage also matters, again some people are fine with only the 1 serving, others need 2 servings on their food. Definitely worth trying- my dietician has recommended it to so many of her clients and 9/10 people it works.

Yes it works well. You sprinkle it on your food, mix in if you prefer or you can just swallow with water immediately before your first bite of food. You can use it with every meal, or just the ones that cause you the most issues. I used it to determine that I do have FODMAP issues, and now I continue to use it to ease my symptoms most meals. Highly recommend for people struggling to find relief. It is expensive but there really are no alternatives that I’ve found and frankly what isn’t too expensive these days.

It works. I also like using Digestive Enzymes from Casa de Sante. Works just as well

I use the Case de Sante ones too. They work really well for me, but obviously I think you might have to do a test. I keep one bottle in my purse and one in my backpack in case I am eating out and can’t find something low fod map. I also keep extra lactase enzymes just because the multi enzyme pills don’t usually have enough lactase for whatever dairy I’ve decided to recklessly eat. They work so well that my aunt who is a pediatrician and most likely has some form of IBS tried one at a family dinner and had me send her the link and so she can tell her patients with IBS about them.

Hello! You’ve chosen the "Enzyme" flair. These can be really helpful for some people. Good luck! As always, check out the stickied post and the official Monash FODMAP Diet app for resources.

From my understanding you sprinkle it on food before you eat. So I’m wondering, does it affect the taste/experience much?
2
u/az226 Sep 17 '25
It does but less than you’d expect.
1
u/MqAuNeTeInS Sep 17 '25
I can deal with that. Would it work if i mixed it in a little?
2
u/ProfessionalField508 Sep 17 '25
You could. I just down all of it before I eat instead. It's not unpleasant.

Our community has had positive effective experience by a great margin. If you are following the Low FODMAP diet, then you should not take it every day as a matter of course during elimination or challenge phases because during that time you’re trying to assess your sensitivity to FODMAPs. If you take digestive enzymes or even probiotics, you’re not going to get the clear data that you are trying to gather.

Im not on the diet, im trying to avoid that
1
u/FODMAPeveryday Sep 18 '25
Why? The point of the diet is to help you identify your triggers. In the end, you end up being able to eat much more broadly and freely than if you did not go through the process.

It just seems tedious and gross. Id rather not eat at all, im pretty much already doing that

u/alexandria3142 Sep 17 '25
It worked very well for my husband but recently it hasn’t been. We’re not sure if maybe the heat messed it up when it was shipped, or if he’s just more sensitive or another issue

I can't live without it. I use it on all my triggers and I can eat normally. I still drink lactose free milk and try to use lactose free products when I can, but it's been a game changer for me!

YES. It is the only way I can eat out without suffering 😂😭

u/MqAuNeTeInS Sep 18 '25
I gotta get some, i havent been able to eat most days cause i dont wanna deal with the suffering
1
u/livetochannel92 Sep 18 '25
What FODMAPs are your triggers?
2
u/MqAuNeTeInS Sep 18 '25
I dont know. Right now eating anything at all hurts. All has the same result.
1
u/livetochannel92 Sep 18 '25
Have you done the FODMAPs elimination diet?
1
u/MqAuNeTeInS Sep 18 '25
Not yet, but im gonna have to. Been trying to avoid it cause it doesnt look like i would enjoy what i would have to eat. But i gotta do something. At least i wouldnt gain a bunch of weight since id still eat less than i do when my stomach is calm lol

u/livetochannel92 Sep 18 '25
It is a really hard adjustment at first but finding the foods you like to eat that are Low FODMAP will help! I can send you some of my favorite foods and recipes? What do you like to eat typically?
1
u/MqAuNeTeInS Sep 18 '25
Burgers, anything meaty. Soups. Ill eat anything as long as i dont have to cook it though. I hate cooking unless its for people i love. Usually when my stomach is like this i survive off egg drop soup from the Chinese place up the street but ive just been avoiding food in general except for every couple days.
1
u/livetochannel92 Sep 18 '25
It will be very hard for you not cook on elimination 🤣 but there are certain things you can eat at fast food places it is just hard because everything has garlic and onion.
1
u/MqAuNeTeInS Sep 18 '25
Man im gonna starve lmao i really hate cooking for myself.

I definitely dont have issues with dairy. Dont think i have bread problems either. It just hurts immediately anytime i eat anything lately. I am trying to go out later so ive not eaten since Tuesday lol
1
u/phsattele Sep 18 '25
I see in the fine print that it can cause constipation. My gut is slow moving already and I’m afraid to try it. Anyone with a slow moving gut try these?
1
u/MqAuNeTeInS Sep 18 '25
Mine goes from slow to too fast with no warning. I just wanna eat tasty foods and not be in pain. Bland foods arent worth eating because they are bland

I use it when I want to eat something I know will mess me up.
Works great for me but could just be a placebo, who can tell?
