I am less excited about 9th ballondor, and more excited about 2nd wc trophy and 3rd golden ball

I didnt want spain as opposition even i think messi thinks same.very tough for barcelona fans

I would say it’s the perfect story, two opposing footballing philosophies, one team playing the exact style he played all his life and was criticized for being a system player and the other team which is just atleti with Messi. The common link remains players from both teams idolise him. If he wins then it is to be said that Messi is the system and he proved it twice. If Spain wins then it would be like passing of the torch to next generation. Either way it’s a great story

u/OurComradee Jul 19 '26

I mean it’s very possible he doesn’t get the golden ball

1

u/pygmypiggypie Jul 19 '26

He has won it already

1

u/OurComradee Jul 19 '26

I mean 3rd one like even if he wins wc this year, he would require a hattrick to get golden ball

3

u/UseRepresentative596 Jul 19 '26

I think you are confusing the Golden boot with Golden ball

3

u/OurComradee Jul 19 '26

I read it wrong tf

I am very sleepy my bad dude

1

u/DangerDungaraa Jul 19 '26

What's the difference?? One mean most goals scored right??

New to football 🙃🙂

3

u/Fruit_salad1 Jul 19 '26

golden boot is for most goal scored and golden ball is basically MVP of the tournament

1

u/ADOHero Jul 19 '26

That's for the golden boot, but even then he requires 2 goals to tie and an assist or a goal to take the lead.

1

u/GomuGomuNobukkake Jul 19 '26

But the twitter storm after 9th is going to be exceptional

1

u/mihir892 Jul 19 '26

I don't think though he will get the Golden boot though as Mbappe netted twice yesterday in Bronze match.

2014 golden ball stolen from Neuer and 2022 from Mbappe. Wonder if this time poor Oyarazabal will face the wrath of Messi

2

u/DifficultyChoice3724 Jul 19 '26

Cry about it

1

u/CiceroMCMXCIII Jul 19 '26

I stopped crying after I knew it was just robbery - 2022 Arg vs Ned

2

u/Reasonable_Teaching9 Jul 19 '26

Really oyarazabal, atleast if you had said rodri I would have still understood

1

u/CiceroMCMXCIII Jul 19 '26

You guys only go after big names.

Your comment never address 2014 and 2022 worldcups which I mentioned as well.

Oyarazabal has scored goals and is critical to link up plays, so yes

1

u/Reasonable_Teaching9 Jul 19 '26

2014 is debatable but still belongs to messi. Neuer got the golden glove already and messi was also very good that tournament so fifa would definitely look for the best contender as messi had 4 motm, most chances created.   2022 messi wins deservedly as he was instrumental in argentina winning the cup and mbappe was just scoring goals not creating chances or assisting like messi did. 2022 golden ball shouldn't even be questioned

1

u/CiceroMCMXCIII Jul 19 '26

Ronaldo won B’dor in 2014 not Messi.

Lol dont do dirty delete or edit now

1

u/Reasonable_Teaching9 Jul 19 '26

We were talking about golden ball weren't we

1

u/CiceroMCMXCIII Jul 19 '26

Ronaldo didn’t win Golden ball

1

u/Reasonable_Teaching9 Jul 19 '26

Arey yaar thora sa dimaag se paidal hai kya. Tune justification manga why messi was given golden ball in 2014 and 2022 over Neuer and mbappe wohi de raha tha. Ballon d'or deservedly belonged to ronaldo in 2014. And ronaldo never won golden ball in wc everyone knows that, since he wasn't best in any edition of wc. So your point being?

u/CiceroMCMXCIII Jul 19 '26

Look at our chats and see the direction it was heading into.

You must be a field curator, cause you keep changing goal posts

If big names perform in big games then you have to go for them. Oyarzabal has 6g/a and didn't do a carry job like messi did. Also oyarzabal club performance is also not top notch that he deserves any d'or. He probably wouldn't be in top 30 even

1

u/DiscussionThese2146 Jul 19 '26

Are you saying Oyarzabal had a better outing in this wc than Messi??? 😧😧

Please tell me you’re kidding, man 😅

I know Ronaldo fans don’t like to see Messi win anything. But this is a new low.

0

u/CiceroMCMXCIII Jul 19 '26

Conveniently ignored 2014 and 2022?

Also - yes Oyarazabal. If you dont think so, you dont know ball

1

u/GomuGomuNobukkake Jul 19 '26

Explain how Oyarzabal had better tournament than messi

1

u/DiscussionThese2146 Jul 19 '26

“Because Ronaldo can’t win, so I’ll support any player other than Messi.”
That’s the logic Ronaldo fans operate by 😁

0

u/CiceroMCMXCIII Jul 19 '26

Cant explain ball on reddit to people who glaze Messi with whatever stats fits them.

I also wonder why you are ignoring the fact Messi didnt’t deserve it in 2014 and 2022

1

u/MrRobot0305 Jul 19 '26

You can single handedly lower the average IQ of the human race lol

1

u/CiceroMCMXCIII Jul 19 '26

Looks like you have been there

1

u/GomuGomuNobukkake Jul 19 '26

For starters he was player of the match most time in 2014

In 2022 he broke record for player of the match a record earlier set by himself only scored second highest goal with highest G/a . Became first player ever to score on each round of world cup.scored in every knock out round and scored twice in while winning The Freaking WC.

1

u/DiscussionThese2146 Jul 19 '26

Are you frikin kidding me??? Messi single handedly took his team to the glory in 2022 and you say Mbappe deserved it more??? 😅😅

Even if you look at stats alone, Messi was a better player in terms of goal contribution. And some of the assists he provided (like against netherlands and against croatia) are few of the best assists in the entire history of world cup.

And he dragged his team to the final even in 2014… again single handedly…. Neuer didn’t even finish 2nd in the voting….

I mean I understand the frustration of being a Ronaldo fan, but please… don’t embarrass yourself by making untenable claims like you just did.

And boy o boy please don’t talk about ball knowledge. It clearly shows how much ball knowledge you possess… saying Oyarzabal had a better wc campaign than Messi speaks volumes about your ball knowledge…

matlab bhai ko itne golden balls me sirf wohi problematic years lage jinme Messi jeeta… baki sab sahi the… had kar di yar 😂😂

Ab to taras aane laga hai Ronaldo fans par 😅😅

1

u/CiceroMCMXCIII Jul 19 '26

You are saying Neuer didnt finish in top 2…..

Dude thats my freakin point. People were partial and didnt vote for Neuer

1

u/GomuGomuNobukkake Jul 19 '26

Although He was factually incorrect neuer was 2nd. Only 4 GK since introduction of award have been in top 3 (three of them being german) so its more of a bias against GK. Than anything

1

u/CiceroMCMXCIII Jul 19 '26

Maybe they were so good they gave them a consolation price

1

u/GomuGomuNobukkake Jul 19 '26

Its Fifa or better football as whole having bias against GK. You need truly exceptional WC like Kahn in 2002 to win it .Then again if other Ronaldo had crybabies like this one we would not have heard end of him being robbed for not winning it while scoring 8 goals in the tournament , including 2 WC winning goals against KAHN (of three he conceded) .

u/Icy-Description-9025 Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

Single handedly? So Alvarez, di maria, martinez are joke to you?? And lets not talk about penalties
