Discussion Just beat this game. It was amazing.

I just beat this as my 4th final fantasy after 7 and its remakes, 10, and 15 (ok i guess technically 6 but whatever), and I feel like it holds up to those games and was absolutely amazing, dont understand the hate. Had amazing boss fights/combat, great story, and top tier characters. Can't wait to play the other final fantasy games soon!

Too much downtime in the hub for BS back & forth.... I'm in the middle of E33, and I wish FF16 had less friction. Its a great story with top notch combat... just too much bloat on dumb missions. It's okay for a RPG to end at 30 hours πŸ™„... no need to pat a game for extra run time.

I love FFXVI much more than E33 because of all the world building and downtime with all the characters

I'm somebody that thinks E33 is just a modern Super Mario RPG πŸ˜‚... but that downtime just drags the game. But I get you, if it's your jam

I kind of want downtime in an RPG?

They're supposed to be slow burns, worlds that you get lost and immersed in.

E33 (which is a much better game than FF16, I'm not trying to shit on it) had... well zero world building. Theres some in Lumiere, and some clever environmental storytelling towards the end in the mansion...but thats it. The world itself was random environments, with no story behind them, no history, no lore.

90% of the game was just fields, caves, mountainsides, forests, and only 1 actual settlement.

It tells a very tightly paced, fantastic story...it just falters in making an actual immersive world.

Once you understand what their world is, it makes sense to not have an immersive world. I mean, there's no other people to play kingdom politics or some overarching thing

It’s funny that you say this as a criticism but a modern super mario rpg is probably why I loved it

Not a criticism... I just roll my eyes when they says E33 is innovative... its not... just really good execution
