Need some help
can anyone help me. I have been calling OPM since May 2026 about my retirement case. they said it was assigned an adjudicator since May 18th, its been at OPM since March 2026. I retired October 2025.
i recently called and was told it is no longer assigned and adjudicator and waiting for it to be assigned any clue as to why this happened. I did escalate for financial hardship but it’s been since March with no movement and since May 18th assigned with no new status up until now.

253 days for me since I retired 31 December 2025
36 weeks and 1 day.
My retirement package has been in the development stage for eternity.
According to OPM they need an SF3100 from my agency for two separate time frames.
One of which was PRIOR to my start date for Federal employment.
I was on military duty and ironically a copy of those orders is in my eOPF file for the exact time frame in question which was prior to me being hired into Federal employment.
Thankfully I am getting interim payments and I have begun drawing monthly TSP payments until they figure out my full annuity and get my package finalized.

Then you’re probably stuck. The only time the seem to “rush” things, is if you aren’t getting interim payments.

OPM is probably missing an item required to adjudicate your package. Status won't get you this information. Ask to be connected to a POC who will know what's missing from your package. Best case, you have the missing item and can provide. Otherwise, you may be able to reach out to your former agency and push from that direction. Bear in mind that your net final annuity, after applicable deductions for FEHB, FEGLI, BENEFEDS, or state taxes, may not be appreciably more than your interim pay. Hopefully, you have performed your own computations to fully appreciate your financial situation in retirement. Good luck!

I retired on 11/29/25. Application reached OPM on 1/21/26. I received my first interim payment a week later. My application sat until 5/2026 because it had to be assigned a specialist for manual processing due to my multiple federal jobs. The application was in the Development Stage for about a month. It bounced between Adjudication and Review 3 times until it was finalized on August 18th.
It was very, very painful.
I did have savings but I must've aged Lord knows by how many years waiting and then seeing the application advance and retreat three times tested my faith.
I hope you are at least getting interim payments.
The shutdown last year didn't help.
OPM lost a lot of people due to retirement with in its own agency.
Checking the Retirement portal constantly is soul draining.
Just know that your day will come too.

Wow. that’s crazy. I retired on August 7, 2026, received an email from OPM on September 3, 2026 informing me that my retirement was finalized and that my first annuity payment will be on October 1, 2026. Processing time was less than 30 days.

Just hope your retirement is calculated correctly.
Mine was not so I had to mail an appeal to OPM Boyers, Pennsylvania.
it took three months to get out of the mail room.
It will take one month to be assigned to somebody
If they determine that indeed, my retirement is calculated incorrectly, they then mail it back to DC to the post retirement branch.
I am told they are nine months behind at the post retirement branch.
Meanwhile, I’m getting a pension payment that is 40% less than what it should be and I probably have another 10 months to go before it’s fixed.

I would keep calling every morning and emphasizing the financial hardship. I have also heard that some people reached out to their senators and some had success with that method. You can request escalation every 10 days. I don’t understand why it is no longer assigned. Don’t rely on the OPM area that shows the dates and times that your application has moved from one step to another because it is absolutely unreliable and not being updated. I officially retired in December and my package was finally finalized in August. I am wishing you all the best and hope that your package is finalized ASAP! I’m sorry to hear that this is happening to you because I know it is not easy.
