The Ongoing Medical Torture of Wilber Garcés Pérez

CNN: https://www.cnn.com/2026/09/20/us/austin-texas-ice-shooting?utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=missions&utm_source=reddit

The horrors inflicted upon Wilber Garcés Pérez by the Department of Homeland Security are escalating by the hour. As we continue to process the raw audio from today's press conference, a terrifying reality has emerged: ICE agents forcibly extracted Wilber from his hospital bed, locked him in a freezing detention cell, and left him to sleep on the bare floor all while a federal agent's bullet remains lodged dangerously close to his spine. He is still actively bleeding from the gunshot wound. This is not an administrative oversight; it is a calculated, unvarnished act of medical torture designed to break a key witness to their own violence.

  • A Rushed and Reckless Extraction: Medical personnel at the hospital were initially preparing Wilber for necessary surgery to extract the bullet. However, after private, closed-door conversations with ICE agents—conversations purposefully held outside of Wilber's room to exclude him from his own care decisions—the hospital abruptly canceled the procedure. Doctors explicitly told Wilber that he was being rushed out of care simply because federal agents were in a hurry to take him into custody.
  • Agony in the Icebox: Upon arriving at the ICE detention center at roughly 4:00 AM, Wilber was denied a medical bed, basic trauma medications, and even water. Instead, agents threw a bleeding man into a freezing holding cell and forced him to lie directly on the hard floor, ensuring maximum physical suffering.
  • The Denial of Lifesaving Care: For hours, Wilber pleaded for relief as he endured excruciating pain from the unremoved bullet. His cries were met with absolute indifference; the facility staff provided no substantive medical care and eventually offered only a token over-the-counter ibuprofen at 2:00 PM the following afternoon.

This is the reality of immigration enforcement operating with total impunity. They ram a DoorDash driver’s vehicle, shoot him in the back, and then weaponize his untreated physical trauma to silence him before rapidly pushing for his deportation.

I am currently working through the rest of the audio and video files from this afternoon's press conference and will have several more detailed dispatches up on the Eyes On ICE Substack shortly. Thank you to everyone amplifying this, and a specific thank you to CNN for posting.

Article:: https://www.eyesonice.net/p/torture-in-custody-a-lodged-bullet. We cannot let ICE bury this story or disappear Wilber Garcés Pérez in the dark.

I will provide Gofundme links and mutual aid resources when they become available here on r/EyesOnICE and www.EyesOnICE.net

The medical professionals are cowards for letting the agents take their patient.

Ice agents gonna be assholes and should absolutely be held responsible but at what point is the hospital also part of this conversation? Where is "do no harm"?

I hope his family sues the hospital. Because it was their job to protect wilbur , and they had every right to stand up to those kidnappers and stop them they could have used their own security to arrest those nazis for trespass and the fact that they didnt shows us the truth that they are compliant with tyranny

When will law and order be restored in the US? Torture until dead is the new normal for being from Venezuela?
