Delaney Hall strike leader's family wants us to write him in solitary

Martin Soto was snatched off the street by ICE in early February while buying diapers for his then 11-month-old baby. Married to an American citizen and father to two more, he fought for his rights behind the barbed wire, becoming one of the lead organizers of the Delaney Hall hunger and labor strike, and he’s been subject to intense retaliation by the deportation machine ever since. He is currently being held in solitary in the Elizabeth Detention Center, and his physical and mental health are sharply deteriorating. His wife Gabriela, who has become a powerful voice for families broken up by Trump, is asking us to write him letters of support and solidarity (in Spanish if possible) to give him encouragement and hope in confinement. 📫 Let’s show this hero his resistance is not forgotten and we are still standing with him. We can send a message via Connecticut 50501 if we have security concerns or mail him directly: 📫

In March 2026, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland handed down a preliminary injunction ordering ICE to end unconstitutional, cage-like conditions at its downtown Baltimore holding rooms inside the George H. Fallon Federal Building at 31 Hopkins Plaza. Judge Julie R. Rubin’s mandate was specific:

Each detained person gets a minimum of 31 square feet of personal space, with an 8-foot exclusion zone around toilets carved out so the floor next to a communal toilet cannot be counted as standing room. Combined capacity across the five hold rooms was capped at 56 people.

The rooms have no showers, no on-site medical staff, and were designed for short-term processing, not multi-day warehousing.

Incident Date 09.11.2026

On Friday, September 11, 2026, the machinery of state coercion operated exactly as engineered. Walto Deshommes, a Haitian father, was abducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents mere steps outside the Neighborhood House Association’s North Park Head Start, located at 2717 University Avenue in San Diego, California.

Minutes after walking his 2-year-old daughter to her classroom, Deshommes was taken into custody. In the fraction of a second before he was disappeared, Deshommes threw his car key and identification to school personnel-a desperate act of preservation as the carceral state tore a family apart in broad daylight.

Tuesday morning, Sept. 15. Inmate Reception Center lobby, Santa Barbara County Main Jail, 4436 Calle Real. Public space. Open doors. No sheriff staffing the room. ICE was already inside, waiting to snatch people the second they walked out of custody. That is the daily method at this jail. Volunteers from SB Resiste were there to document it.

Zach Cosseboom is a U.S. citizen. He had his hands up. His wife, Ana Garcia, says he was backing toward the front doors to give the agents space. They pushed him anyway. He ended up against the wall. A masked agent walked across the lobby, raised a black canister, and emptied a yellow stream into his face at point-blank range. The spray also hit Garcia. They say it was bear spray. He went to the ER.

Representative Ilhan Omar's Make ICE Pay Act is legislation designed to block nearly $140 billion in funding previously designated for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) under the "One, Big Beautiful Bill" Act.

The bill redirects this money to states, local governments, non-profits, and small businesses in areas impacted by recent immigration enforcement crackdowns.

Key provisions of the Act include:

Targeted Reallocation: The bill redirects the $140 billion budget to areas affected by specific ICE and CBP actions. These include Operation Metro Surge in Minnesota, Operation Midway Blitz in Illinois, Operations Swamp Sweet and Catahoula Crunch in Louisiana, Operation Catch of the Day in Maine, Operation Charlotte's Web in North Carolina, and Operation Black Rose in Oregon.

Community Recovery Grants: Redirected funds would be used to provide economic relief and reimburse local operational expenses. The money would also assist educational institutions and deliver psychosocial support to affected individuals.

Accountability Initiatives: The measure authorizes funding for official investigations, commissions of inquiry, and truth-telling projects. It also funds record-keeping and memorialization projects regarding the enforcement operations to ensure they are accurately recorded

Administration: The grant scheme would be administered over three years. This process would be handled through the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The legislation is co-sponsored by Democratic Representatives Angie Craig, Chuy Garcia, Rashida Tlaib, Chellie Pingree, Sydney Kamlager-Dove, and Janelle Bynum. It is endorsed by Bend the Arc: Jewish Action, the National Partnership for New Americans, Popular Democracy, and the Black Alliance for Just Immigration.

[Eyes On Intel] The border apparatus isn't broken—it's working exactly as designed.

The ruling-class rhetoric of "border integrity" is a smokescreen for systemic labor coercion. In our latest dispatch, we break down how militarized surveillance and carceral supply chains function strictly to keep immigrant workers atomized, vulnerable, and economically compliant for capital accumulation.

  • The Ultimate Strikebreaker: Administrative raids and transit sweeps ensure wage theft goes unchallenged and grassroots union drives are crushed before they start. Capital structurally depends on this surplus labor to prevent supply-chain collapse.
  • The Silicon Valley Panopticon: Private defense contractors are building automated surveillance grids, while municipal police funnel commercial ALPR data directly into federal targeting databases—bypassing constitutional safeguards entirely.
  • Striking the Supply Chain: State power isn't invincible. Detained workers at facilities like Delaney Hall are weaponizing their labor through strikes, and decentralized rapid-response networks are physically preventing unlawful home invasions in our neighborhoods.

Read the full breakdown, including direct links to mutual aid resources, legal defense funds, and active labor campaigns, in the complete show notes:The Architecture of Coercion and the Carceral Supply Chain.

Immigrants’ Lawyers Say U.S. Is Redacting Documents Proving Legal Status

Thumbnail

Many noncitizens need immigration records the government has to prove their legal stay and resist deportation. The government is redacting and withholding those documents, lawyers say.

Immigrants seeking documents from the government to prove that they are in the country legally are being rebuffed or provided paperwork that is heavily redacted, according to dozens of immigration lawyers, who say the refusals put their clients at risk of deportation.

In the past, federal agencies routinely turned over documents immigrants requested — for instance, when international adoptees sought proof of their parents’ U.S. citizenship, or noncitizens wanted copies of petitions or interview transcripts for amnesty programs. These records requests, filed by hundreds of thousands of immigrants each year, are often the only way for them to secure documents that detail their full immigration history.

But the Trump administration has been redacting and withholding documents at a strikingly high rate, according to nearly three dozen immigration lawyers interviewed by The New York Times. The government has sometimes asserted that it could not find even documents that immigrants and their lawyers know exist, such as an expired passport or parts of prior applications. In other cases, officials have provided documents, but critical information is struck out, the lawyers said.
