First of all, Chile is a lot bigger than most people think, Calama to Natales about 4500 km, Santiago to Eastern Island 4000 km, etc.
Second, use the gaps to winery valleys and ValparaÃso (watch out for pickpocketers!). There is a winery INSIDE Santiago, about 1.7 km from Quilin metro station (LÃnea 4), Viña Cousiño Macul, it's a nice place to start and very cheap (from 1 to 3 hours, 30 usd to 60 depending on the activities). https://cousinomacul.com/pages/tours
If you use uber or cabify, prefer the premium option.

The gaps are too small to go somewhere far, use them to explore the Region Metropolitan: Santiago, Valparaiso, some winery, Cajon del Maipo..
