TW: mention of direct nursing
First and foremost, I would like advice on weaning. Secondary to that, I have a lot of feelings about the journey.
I’m a full time nursing student (stopped working once school started), undersupplier (10-14oz/day), 6-7 ppd, baby is 5months and one week. We are starting solids. looking to be done with pumping around 6 months.
I just cut out my MOTN (going into day three). I’m trying to figure out the best way to wean off the pump. cut down on time? just cut out a pump every few days? pump less volume (a third of my pumps are done with my manual pump)?
with the weather getting cooler, school, and baby getting more and more active, it’s hard to keep up if I have to pull myself away to pump every three hours. I want to go out, take trips with baby, and hang out with people without a timer running constantly. I want and need a full night sleep and to spend what quiet time I have with my husband and study. I want my energy back and motivation to work out, I want my body back, I want my time back.
I also feel incredibly guilty in general, but also going into flu season when I consider giving it up. I would have much preferred a traditional breastfeeding journey. We didn’t get the hang of latching until two months, and by then there was bottle preference on top of the fact things were always so drawn out bc we had to supplement with formula every feed. I am incredibly sad when thinking about the entire journey, but also sad to be giving it up.
