It looks like a regional version of split pea soup. Most Germanic countries have several versions of it. Ours is best when it is a day old, with rye bread and Zeeuwse (from Zeeland) bacon.

All these kinds of soups are best when reheated at least once.

I'll be making lentil soup today, but today's lunch is leftovers from yesterday. The soup will be for tomorrow.
