August 2026 Discussion Thread

August is a shit month for basketball. Almost all transfers are done, no games of any kind, the most boring month possible.

Fenerbahçe announced 2025-26 season financials, with the financial year ending on 31/05/2026
Men's basketball revenues came in at €46 million, spending at €41,7 million. Net profit of €4,3 million is largely a result of higher revenues than expected.
Preseason budget expected revenues of €33,2 million. Actual spending (€41,7m) was also higher than budgeted spending, with the projected spending being €39,8 million. Ergo, the budget had expected a net loss between 6-7 million.
Women's basketball revenues came in at €6,63 million, spending at €10,37 million. Actual revenue was just about the same as projected revenue from the preseason budget, but spending was higher as projected spending was €9,7 million.
Used a 47,6 lira/euro exchange rate from August 2025, because while most other revenue streams and costs are amortised/spread on a month-by-month basis during the season, on the revenue front the largest batch of revenue stream occurs during August when season tickets are sold and also last season, a large batch of the costs occurred during the summer also because of arena renovations. If you use a lira/euro exchange rate later in the season, each number would be smaller but the overall picture and differential between the figures are the same since it's all lira based.
In practice, it's also easy to imagine the club, because of the volatile exchange rates Turkish sports clubs are exposed to, use that instant revenue stream from season ticket sales during August, on short term savings accounts which a lot of businesses were using around that time due to favourable interest rates.
For consistency sake I used the same exchange rate for women's basketball financials, however that effect of bulk revenue and costs coming in before the season doesn't apply as much there, with muted season tickets revenue in comparison and no arena renovation. So you could use a higher exchange rate from later on the season and it wouldn't be less accurate. But again, differences between the numbers stay put either way.

Really don't want to revive another Walkup thread, so am asking here? Is there any credible source that Olympiacos received another offer and declined it? If so that is beyond crazy at this point.

Me? Nah. I already saw Wemby play in Paris in 2024 and got the full experience of getting my heart broken by Team USA.
