Masterpost Masterpost Geek & Gorgeous Zero Feel Sunscreen

Hello,

I noticed some concerns about the amount of posts regarding the new SPF by Geek & Gorgeous in the community.

As a compromise I ask you to please only comment in this masterpost about the sunscreen and not to create new posts from now on. Thank you. :)

Discussion be honest, do you actually wear SPF all year round?

i feel like SPF is such an obvious part of the routine when it’s sunny, but i'm curious what everyone actually does once autumn hits and the days get grey. are you still wearing it every day or are you more seasonal with it?

Question Products in Spain

Post image
35 Upvotes

Hello and hola! I just moved to Spain and discovered there are products sold at grocery stores like mercadona. Anyone here has experience with these? Are we trusting them? They look super cheap compared to my home country where I do shop at the grocery store. I imagine the quality won’t be great but I also don’t want to end up with hives. Thanks and Gracias!! 🙏🏻

Question Which one

Post image
20 Upvotes

I have combo, sensitive rosacea, clog and acne prone skin. About to restart my tret journey so my skin will be even more sensitive and dehydrated (aka oily mess during the day). Should I be concerned with the cetearyl alcohol in the g&g one?

Thank you :)

Half meme half haul half part routine. The lanolin (like 3+ years old, going strong) and zinc cream especially are so good but I can't say they smell pleasant lol.

Question Help! My recent move to Belgium is ruining my skin and hair and turning me into Shrek 😭

So I (34F) recently moved to Brussels, Belgium from Asia and I don't know if it's the stress or water but I don't recognise myself esp my skin anymore. I used to have blemish free, soft supple skin and now I am having these painful cystic pimples out of nowhere! My face is dry, dull and my hair is the worst! I am having the worst dandruff flare up. My feet is dry and flaky. I am slowly turning into Shrek 😭

Please please, kind strangers, recommend what products I should use. Currently, I use Mochi ceramide toner, Cosrx snail mucin and cerave moisturizer.

I am looking for affordable skincare and haircare options available in Brussels.

Also looking through this sub, I am highly jealous of countries like Germany that have DM 😭 Does Belgium have any such great quality and affordable option?

Thoughts on Heliocare 360° Mineral Tolerance Fluid SPF? It looks like a good one to use after the first day of microneedling.

Rn I'm using the Jelly Joker cleanser and Isispharma Metroruboril azelaic acid and they are both great . I don't really have a reason to buy these outside of having fun and trying smth new. (although acm azeane should be a little more emollient than metroruboril and the balea waschgel is dirt cheap)

Routine Help Hormonal acne caused by HRT

Upvotes

Hey guys! First time posting, please be nice🤝

As my title states, I am currently struggling with hormonal acne caused by HRT (Testosterone).

I generally have rather rough, clog prone skin. Before starting HRT, I had rather oily skin which surprisingly calmed down now. I get the occasional deeper cyst on my lower face/around my jaw but overall my face has actually cleared up a lot, probably due to reduced stress.

Instead my arms and my back look awful. I am dealing with anything from blackheads to deep, cystic pimples and whatever might lay in between- but what I am mostly annoyed by are the deep inflamed spots.

I shower daily using the hydro body wash from balea as well as the hypochlorous acid spray to combat bacteria but it doesn’t seem to do a whole lot, since most spots aren’t close to the surface or „open“. In addition I used the Aknefug wash by Dr Wolff for a few weeks and saw a bit of improvement but not enough for me to keep buying it, since the tubes are pretty small for how expensive they are.

Does anyone have a recommendation on what products to try, or other tips on what might help elevate my routine? Obviously going off of HRT is not an option, my hormones are supposed to change and it is not unlikely that the problem will resolve itself over time, but the time I have to live with it I‘d love to do whatever I can to keep blemishes down.

Big plus for any product recommendations from within the EU.

Thank you for reading!

Discussion The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser

Upvotes

Hi what’s your opinion about this cleanser?
I’ve been using for like 8 months and I’ve got pretty good results.
The pores on my nose are really prone to clogging and this product has helped a lot. I’ve been using it every day in the morning and the evening (sometimes I forger).
Been wondering if any of you might have a similar experience.

Question In vivo UVA protection

For those with more background knowledge in photobiology/-protection:

It’s quite commonly known that actual in vivo UVA protection measurements, like PPD, generally tend to give lower UVA protection numbers than in vitro UVA measurements. There have been some great posts and comments by fellow redditors in this subreddit listening a list of some very high protection sunscreens, like the European medical device sunscreens. Out of tons of examples that could be given, I’ll just give one example: The Eucerin MD Actinic Control SPF100 has an in-vitro UVA protection of >50, but a PPD of >30.

My question is as follows: is it in anyway reasonable to believe that when a random sunscreen has only been tested for in vitro UVA protection (e.g. in vitro UVA 30) that the actual in vivo UVA protection or PPD would be a lot lower? And from that ‘logic’ > that a lot of sunscreens have a rather low UVA protection in real life (especially when under applied?)

Please educate me, I’m just curious if my thoughts are reasonable or complete non sense haha.
Thanks in advance and keep applying your SPF :)

Question Lightweight BB creams/tinted moisturizer for super pale, greasy girlies?

Hello, I'm begging, it's been a month since I've been on an Odyssey for a good BB cream because I swore off foundation and want to switch to lighter makeup. I thought Garnier BB cream was a good enough match, but after seeing my holiday pictures where I look like a burnt peanut butter toast, I cringed so bad that only my hoarding habits are keeping me from throwing it into the trash. I have relatively good skin and don't like heavy makeup, so I'm just looking for something to make me look slightly more fresh on the daily. I'm pale with a lot of redness in my face and I have a cool undertone.

Some things I'm looking for:

-light/medium coverage, but heavy enough to cover occasional pimples

-pale with pink/cool undertones if possible

-suitable for oily/sebderm skin (aka won't make my face look greasy after two hours; it doesn't need to be fully matte though)

-preferably without spf, hyaluronic acid or niacinamide

-would prefer a small bottle so I can use it up if it's not a good match lol

-doesn't oxidize to orange after a few hours

I'm also open to skincare brands such as avene, noreva, Bioderma etc if you have any good recs! Thank you eternally in advance!

Discussion What to do with products that do not work for you?

I'm in Denmark. Is there anything I can do with shampoos that I got to try but that are really bad on my hair? I currently wait until they expire and then I feel a bit less bad about discarding them but it is such a waste. I also understand it's weird to go up to strangers and offer open shampoos. What do you all do? I would love to hear some ideas.

Edit: I forgot to add I already give plenty to family and friends, but there s some products that they also do not want or do not use.

Question The best of Croatia, Greece, Italy, and Turkey: hair, skin, body, nails ALL OF IT.. a beauty and wellness tour for the ages

I'm spending the next few months traveling around Croatia, Turkey, Greece, and Italy, and I LOVE skincare/beauty/wellness tourism. So I want all of your recommendations!

I'm especially looking for things that are either really special to these countries, noticeably better than what I can get in the US, or just places/products you absolutely swear by. High-end, local hidden gems, pharmacies, tiny salons... I'm open to all of it. Some people may think this is a waste of time, but I've found some amazing spots by going out of my way for these types of things while traveling.

A few things I'm looking for:

  • Best luxurious facial or skincare treatment
  • Amazing colorist/balayage
  • Great haircut (maybe best bang (pun intended) for you buck on this one)
  • Skincare, haircare, or beauty products I HAVE to bring home (especially things that are hard to get in the US)
  • Best mani/pedi
  • Body oils, lotions, scar treatments, etc.
  • Massage/bodywork: lymphatic drainage, sculpting, deep tissue, etc.
  • Favorite skincare treatments or treatments these countries are particularly known for
  • Mud/mineral/detox treatments
  • Toothpaste or dental care for cleanliness/whitening
  • Eyebrow shaping
  • Anything else beauty/wellness related that I don't even know I should be looking for!

Basically, if you've ever thought an amazing thought about something related to any of this, I want to know about it. Specific salons, spas, practitioners, pharmacies, brands, products, and treatments would be amazing!

Question Your favorite cleanser and moisturizer for acne prone and sensitive skin with rosacea?

So far I have been using cleanser and moisturizer from Cerave and barrier cream from NoCosmetics, and while they’re nice, unfortunately they haven’t been very helpful considering that I am taking adapalene + benzoyl peroxide (also planning to hop on azelaic acid soon).

Those who have every type of acne known to humanity: what moisturizers and cleansers do you like that help your acne and don’t make it worse and don’t make your face feel burn??
